Job summary

Posillico Civil, Inc. is seeking a Pipe Foreman to lead one or more crews on heavy civil infrastructure and transportation projects. You will ensure safety, on-time completion, and budget adherence under the supervision of the Project Superintendent or General Foreman.

You will oversee field operations, coordinate with subcontractors and owners, and maintain quality on site. A background in trenching, utilities, and earthwork is essential, with strong leadership skills and attention to safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 5+ years of heavy construction experience (civil infrastructure, roads, bridges, underground utilities).
• Must include at least 2 years of direct experience as a pipe Foreman.
• Proficient with underground utilities machinery (dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, rollers, tampers, trench compactors).
• Able to interpret survey grade stakes and grading plans; use an auto level and pipe laser.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily safety protocols (PPE usage, safety walks, toolbox talks, utility location verification).
• Track daily labor and equipment hours; coordinate with Superintendent; manage POD and weekly look-ahead schedules.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Pipe Foreman provides leadership for one or more crews on heavy civil infrastructure and transportation construction projects (highway, road, bridge, civil, and site work). This role ensures projects are completed safely, on time, and on budget. The Foreman upholds the company vision, reports to the Project Superintendent or General Foreman, and manages field operations with high professionalism.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Safety: Lead daily safety protocols (AHA’s, Toolbox Talks, Safety Huddles). Ensure proper use of PPE, conduct safety walks, verify Miss Utility requests, and confirm utility locations. Oversee housekeeping, log daily safety data in Procore, and participate in incident investigations.

• Financial: Track and enter daily labor and equipment hours into timecard software. Coordinate daily with the Superintendent on project schedules, utilize the Plan of the Day (POD), develop weekly look-ahead schedules, and monitor crew production performance.
• Production and Quality: Manage and coordinate tasks with subcontractors, vendors, and utility owners. Review plan documents to ensure conformance, execute SWPPP requirements, minimize re-work, and document daily activities using photos and journals in the project management system.

Qualifications

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong communication, time-management, organization, and plan-reading skills.
• Proficient with electronic documents and construction management software.
• Valid Driver’s License free from serious or frequent violations.
• Able to obtain TWIC or other background credentials for government/restricted sites.

SPECIFIC QUAILIFICATIONS:

• Experience: 5+ years of heavy construction experience (civil infrastructure, roads, bridges, underground utilities) as a heavy equipment operator and pipe layer. Must include at least 2 years of direct experience as a pipe Foreman.
• Equipment Mastery: Skilled with machinery used for underground utilities, including dozers, loaders, excavators, backhoes, rollers, tampers and trench compactors.
• Trench Safety: Knowledgeable in various trench sheeting and shoring systems and their proper use in diverse ground conditions and confined spaces.
• Technical Skills: Able to interpret survey grade stakes/grading plans, use an auto level, rod, pipe laser, and perform calculations for routine utility and drainage structure installations.
• Utility Systems Expertise: Deep understanding of materials and installation methods for gravity/pressurized sewer, stormwater and water piping including all associated structures.
• Water & Erosion Management: Experienced in surface/groundwater management (centrifugal, diaphragm, well points, filter bags, sedimentation ponds). Knowledgeable in constructing and maintaining erosion controls (silt fence, inlet protection, rock check dams, slope drains, matting).
• Rigging & Signaling: Competent in selecting, inspecting, and using rigging and hand signals for lifting materials and drainage structures.
• Certifications: Possesses or can obtain VDOT ESCCC-QP and VA DEQ RLD certifications.

POSITION LOGISTICS:

• Reports to: Superintendent or General Foreman
• Location: Northern Virginia and/or Richmond area
• Travel Requirements: Works within an operating region that may require one-way travel distances of up to 100 miles. Occasional overnight travel may be required.
• Compensation: $90,000 - $115,000 Commensurate with experience.
