HRI, Inc. is seeking a skilled supervisor to oversee craft employees on PennDOT projects in Centre County, PA. This hourly, non-exempt role operates under direct and indirect supervision to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

Responsibilities include planning work, coordinating crews, tracking hours, and maintaining positive relations with stakeholders and the traveling public. Night shifts, weekend work, and overtime are common.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of construction experience preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prefer previous supervisory experience.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record per company standards.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must successfully complete PennDOT Flagger Training Course.
  • Must be CPR and first aid trained.
  • Must obtain and maintain all mandatory training.

  • Plan work schedules, manpower, materials, trucking and equipment needs.
  • Supervise crew members to ensure safe, productive, and high-quality work.
  • Prioritize and communicate plans to crew, customers and inspecting agencies.
  • Monitor performance and productivity and ensure safety requirements are met.
  • Complete quantity reports and employee time reports.
  • Advise management of potential problems and assist in resolving them.
  • Maintain positive relations with other departments to support schedule.

Job Summary:

When directed by supervisor, this position will supervise craft employees assigned to PennDOT projects. This hourly, non-exempt position will work with direct and indirect supervision.

Essential Functions:
  • Work with the Project Superintendent to develop and maintain a complete and thorough understanding of the plans and specifications for assigned project.
  • Work with the Project Superintendent to develop a plan to meet or exceed the specifications, safety requirements, and production paces.
  • Supervise assigned crew members to ensure tasks are safely and productively completed in a timely manner with a high quality finished product.
  • Prioritize, schedule and communicate plans and tasks to crew members, customers, and inspecting agency.
  • Plan work schedule, determining manpower levels, material quantities, trucking and equipment requirements, and traffic control needs.
  • Monitor work performance and productivity of crew members to ensure project rules, procedures, safety requirements, etc. are maintained.
  • Complete quantity report daily with diary notes as required.
  • Complete employee time reports to accurately reflect hours worked and phases on.
  • Advise superintendents and/or project management of potential problems, work interferences, schedule difficulties, etc.; assist in circumventing/resolving such problems as required.
  • Maintain positive relationship with other departments, as required, to support construction schedule.
  • Promote positive public relations and image.
  • Ensure safe working environment.
  • Exercise proper care, maintenance, and operation of company equipment.
  • Frequently work more than 40 hours per week and non traditional hours including night shift, Saturdays, and occasionally Sundays.
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction.
Knowledge of:
  • Safety regulations, project scheduling, cost control, project plans, specifications, special provisions, and phases needed to complete the project.
  • Equipment and tools needed for the project.
  • Materials required for the project.
  • Haul time to the job in order to efficiently plan trucking requirements.
  • Communication hand signals.
Ability to:
  • Learn, follow and enforce GOH company policies and procedures.
  • Plan and coordinate operations.
  • Supervise and evaluate performance of crew members.
  • Create construction plans to minimize traffic disruptions and maximize safety for our employees and the traveling public.
  • Cross train crew members on all aspects of tasks related to particular construction discipline.
  • Work with indirect supervision.
  • Utilize heavy job field application as required.
  • Use a computer and related office equipment.
Qualifications:
