The Foreman is responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of a crew of technicians, apprentices, subcontractors, and laborers on a job site, ensuring all work is completed on time, within budget, and according to plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage mid-sized to large projects with 15 or more personnel.
- Coordinate with management, owners, contractors, and design professionals to resolve work procedures, complaints, and construction issues.
- Develop project schedules to meet deadlines within budget constraints.
- Determine labor requirements and assign workers to construction sites.
- Plan, organize, and oversee construction and maintenance activities for structures, facilities, and systems.
- Interpret and explain plans and contract terms to staff, workers, and clients.
- Prepare contracts and negotiate revisions with architects, consultants, clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
- Supervise and delegate responsibilities to foremen and technicians, mentoring less experienced electrical technicians for career advancement.
- Monitor project budgets to ensure profitability and positive cash flow.
- Inspect projects for compliance with safety and building codes.
- Possess at least 8 years of electrical industry experience, including 2 years as a project foreman.
- Hold a High School diploma or GED.
- Experience with management systems like scheduling, job costing, estimating, safety, and quality control.
- Oversee and approve monthly job cost updates and cash flow projections.
- Plan manpower effectively to meet project goals without excessive labor costs or overtime.
- Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Work independently without direct supervision.
- Own necessary tools.
- This role may require use of a company vehicle; candidates must have a valid driving record and pass a background check.
Qualifications
- Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 50 pounds regularly, demonstrating physical strength and stamina.
- Ability to relocate a 12-foot stepladder independently.
- Work at heights up to 60 feet, including climbing scaffolds, lifts, and ladders.
- Perform physical activities such as walking, climbing, lifting, and reaching routinely.
- Good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, and effective communication skills in English.
- Use ladders safely, carrying tools within weight limits.
- Recognize potential problems without necessarily solving them.
- Apply general rules to specific problems logically.
- Integrate information to form conclusions, recognizing relationships among events.
- See details clearly at close range.
- Understand spoken information effectively.
