Job summary

Professional Teleconcepts, LLC (IL) is seeking a Fiber Splicing Foreman to oversee the fusion of optical fibers and support our growing telecom network. You will serve as the on-site expert, guiding less experienced team members and ensuring high-quality, safe splicing work both aerially and underground.

You’ll test and troubleshoot post-installation circuits, document work, and coordinate with crew to maintain standards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience.
• 4+ years of fiber splicing, placement, and testing experience.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record and ability to pass a DOT physical.

Responsibilities

• Safely perform fiber splicing, troubleshooting, and testing both aerial and underground.
• Repair out-of-service drops or cable cuts as necessary.
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation.
• Ensure all splicing operations meet customer and industry standards.
• Oversee and guide other onsite workers to ensure tasks are done safely and correctly.

What you’ll do

• Safely perform fiber splicing, troubleshooting, and testing both aerial and underground
• Repair out-of-service drops or cable cuts as necessary
• Test, activate, and troubleshoot the network’s circuit post-installation
• Ensure all splicing operations meet strict customer and industry standards
• Splice fiber cable for underground transfers and help with light laborer duties
• Safely navigate working at different heights, from underground to in the air
• Document work performed through daily production reports, including marking up maps and keeping correct material usage records
• Oversee and guide other onsite workers to ensure tasks are done safely and correctly
• Other duties as assigned

Pay range is $40-$50 per hour depending on experience

What you’ll need

• To be 18 years of age or older
• Authorization to work in the United States for this company
• High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience
• Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
• Must be able to pass a DOT physical exam, resulting in a valid medical card
• At least 4 years of experience splicing, placing, and testing fiber strands

Additional qualifications

• Certified pole climber or capable of demonstrating proficiency as a pole climber, is preferred
• Knowledge of telecommunications network structure

Physical abilities & exposures

• Routinely: work at heights, in confined spaces and alone in remote locations with arms above shoulder level, operate vehicle and heavy machinery, squeeze, fine hand motion, bend, stoop, stand, walk, climb stairs and lift greater than 55 pounds
• Occasionally: use ladder and gaffs for climbing poles, keyboard, and mouse
