Job summary

The Haskell Company in Jacksonville, FL is seeking a Project Superintendent to oversee direct supervision of construction projects and achieve cost-effective labor, equipment, and material utilization. The role reports to the Project/Assistant Superintendent and requires strong leadership and field management abilities.

Responsibilities include daily/weekly planning, developing construction methods, managing personnel, safety programs, and ensuring quality compliance with drawings and schedules.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and a minimum of five years of experience in the construction industry.
  • Excellent organizational and verbal communication skills; attention to detail.
  • Good analysis and observation skills.
  • Carries out detailed written and verbal instructions independently.
  • Provides effective verbal and written instructions.
  • Excellent troubleshooting abilities in tough situations.
  • Possesses a sound and deep knowledge about construction procedures and safety measures.
  • Ability to understand and execute the company vision and values of Team, Excellence, Service and Trust.

  • Pre-plans and schedules activity on a daily and weekly basis as required.
  • Plans and develops construction techniques and methods such as temporary structures, materials handling, crew size and deployment, equipment requirements and task sequences.
  • Manages job personnel below the Assistant Superintendent level; handles complaints and disciplinary actions with assigned employees.
  • Purchases miscellaneous materials and requisitions rental equipment.
  • Receives, stores and monitors purchased materials and rented equipment.
  • Checks and verifies dimensions within the design drawings and approves field layout of all lines and grades.
  • Responsible for quality of company-performed work; oversees work to ensure compliance with engineered drawings and schedule.
  • Plans daily tasks and directs work for all crew members.
  • Initiates jobsite safety and accident prevention efforts; investigates and reports accidents; holds safety meetings and maintains safe working conditions on jobsites.
  • Responsible for the execution and utilization of Task Planning Checklist by assigned personnel.
  • Travel as required.
  • Other duties which may be assigned as needed.
  • Supervises others.

Scope of Position

EnvironmentalFactors and Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, team members maybe requiredto visit alternatelocations, andtherefore must have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to do so. This position requires the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-50 pounds.Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand, and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard,operateequipment and read application/form information. Theteammember isfrequentlyrequired to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
