Job summary

Harper Corp. seeks a Foreman to lead a field team, align with the Superintendent and Project Manager, and drive safety, quality, and schedule on the jobsite.

You will coordinate with owners, architects/engineers, and Trade Partners to resolve issues, run coordination meetings, and ensure QA/QC and BIM integration where applicable. The role requires strong leadership, scheduling acumen and a proactive safety stance, with travel to multiple jobsites and a hands-on approach to daily field

Qualifications

  • Experience/knowledge of construction is preferred but not a requirement.
  • Scheduling: Ability to understand material delivery dates and when they are required.
  • Demonstrate ability to understand conflicts and resolve them.
  • Willingness to run Trade Partner coordination meetings (agenda setting, maintaining).
  • Manage QA/QC program and supervise project using BIM tools when appropriate.
  • Coordinate with City, Local Agencies and Utility reps and ensure plans/specs are understood.

Responsibilities

Summary/Objective:

Promotes the company mission statement by working with the Superintendent and Project Manager to form a team who collaborate to create a safe work environment, build a quality project and keep projects on schedule while earning a fair and reasonable profit. *Experience/knowledge of construction is preferred but not a requirement.*

Essential Functions:
  • Learning what it means to be the main contact for the project at the jobsite.
  • Learning how to oversee the project to assist in proper project decisions.
    • Scheduling.
    • Delivery.
    • Logistics, staging and phasing.
    • Quality control.
    • Employee staffing levels.
  • Ability to communicate with Owner and Architect/Engineer relating to field issues.
    • Understanding issues and assisting in resolution.
    • Knowing the proper time to involve Owners and Architects/Engineers.

  • Perform weekly Toolbox Talks with all active Trade Partners.
  • Conduct safety stand down training as needed.
  • Participate in the timely and effective investigations of all incidents including injuries, property damage, behavioral issues and near misses.
  • Conduct weekly site safety inspections in Procore.
  • Assist the Superintendent and Assistant Superintendents to create Schedules as well as determine sequencing of work.
  • Understand project QA/QC.
    • QA example:
      • Pre-installation meetings.
    • QC example:
      • Visual and documents inspections of work in place.
  • Learn to oversee the coordination of all Trade Partners.
  • Project-site specific logistics/use including associated rules.
  • Scheduling of each trade (who goes where and when to start).
  • Develop and implement recovery strategies to maintain project schedule.
  • Clarity of design versus installation (RFI’s).
  • Schedule for the trades (durations and commitments of durations).
  • Crosstrain with Field Engineers, field staff, and Trade Partner personnel to ensure staff development.
  • Ability to manage timesheets for field staff.
  • Ability to manage and complete all daily reports.
  • Manage all jobsite equipment.
  • Recognize and understand the importance of compliance of local building codes.
  • Recognize and understand the importance of compliance of all ADA code requirements.
  • Participate in and recognize the importance of all required inspections for the project.
  • Document and execute a proper Harper punch list prior to inviting Owner and Design Team punch list.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Work Environment: This position is required to work in a variety of conditions relative to construction jobsite environments and must be able to perform the physical requirements of the job, as assigned. Exposure to weather, heat, etc. is expected.

Physical Demands:

Weather and climate conditions will vary throughout the progress of a project and the Foreman must be able to inspect all ongoing construction activities over the duration of the assigned project. This role requires walking over varied terrain, climbing, stooping, bending, and lifting. Lifting requirements vary from minimal loads to heavy; but help is always available with heavier loads. Inspection for quality, consistency and completeness of work frequently requires climbing ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.

Driving a company-owned vehicle is required to perform the duties of a Foreman. The Foreman is required to have a valid state-issued license, a satisfactory motor vehicle record, safe driving behavior, and must adhere to our Driving and Truck Policy.

Travel Required:

Travel to/from multiple jobsites, projects, and offices. Minimal overnight or weekend travel.

Education and Experience:
  • Experience/knowledge of construction is preferred but not a requirement.
