Job summary

National Coatings, Inc. is seeking an experienced field foreman to lead commercial painting crews on diverse projects in the Boise area. The role emphasizes safety, quality, and timely delivery of finishes across industrial and specialty applications.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of supervisory painting experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to read blueprints. Travel to job sites and flexible hours may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in commercial painting with supervisory or foreman responsibilities.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures in painting and construction.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, ability to work independently or in a team.

Responsibilities

• Lead crews of 5–10 field staff, ensuring safety and productivity.
• Oversee surface prep, priming, painting, and finishing on diverse substrates.
• Manage field reports, timecards, and change orders.
• Maintain PPE, tools, and equipment, ensuring a safe work environment.
• Represent the company professionally on client sites.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Extensive Material Knowledge: Proficient in various painting materials and application methods, with a solid grasp of quality control and material management.
• Goal-Oriented Leadership: Possesses strong organizational and analytical skills, focusing on achieving set goals.
• Effective Crew Management: Demonstrates ability to lead crews of 5-10 individuals safely and productively; assist in the continuous training and development of field staff.
• Surface Preparation and Painting: Capable of preparing, priming, sanding, sealing, and painting multiple surfaces using diverse materials such as varnish, lacquer, shellac, enamel, latex, epoxy, waterproofing, and heat-resistant finishes.
• Equipment Maintenance: Hands-on experience in equipment repair, able to identify and address minor issues promptly.
• Professional Representation: Maintains a professional demeanor, representing the company positively while on client job sites.
• Documentation: Completes required reports accurately and promptly, including daily field reports, timecards, field production reports, and time & material reports.
• Change Orders: Understands the importance of and procedure for completing field change orders and tickets.
• Equipment Proficiency: Trained and proficient in operating multilevel scaffolding, extension ladders, and spray systems.
• Maintenance and Safety: Oversees proper usage and maintenance of PPE, tools, assigned trucks, and other equipment ensuring a safe work environment.

Requirements

Experience and Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience in commercial painting, including proven supervisory or foreman experience
• Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to painting and construction activities
• Exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written) with ability to work independently and as part of a team
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
• Ability to read drawings/blueprints highly preferred
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Willingness to travel and work flexible hours as needed
