JOB TITLE
Construction Foreman
SALARY
range $38.00 hr. to $45.00 hr.
The Construction Foreman is responsible for leading a field crew in the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of traffic detection loops and related traffic signal infrastructure. This role ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and company standards.
DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervisory Chain: Laborer < Tech < Foreman > Manager
- Skilled and technical work in the construction, installation, and repair of traffic signal systems, highway lighting, and other transportation related systems.
- Supervision and Training of all subordinate employees assigned to the project.
- Assist Project Manager with material ordering, scheduling, and utility locates.
- Fill out and turn in required personal and project paperwork.
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance.
- Communications with customers and other contractors.
- Follow requirements for utility locates and permits.
- Have their own hand tools (Complete list).
- Responsible for maintaining and renewing required certifications and licenses.
- Responsible for assigned company vehicle and typically report to work at the job site.
- Wear steel toe work boots when working on a construction site.
- Wear Safety Vest and Hard Hat when on a job site.
- Use proper PPE as required.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS and ABILITIES
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum four years combined experience as a Crew Member / Laborer, Construction Technician I, and Construction Technician II. Some experience may be substituted with equivalent related construction or electrical experience.
- Operates and performs basic field maintenance on all equipment including but not limited to; aerial lift/bucket trucks, trenchers, derrick/digger trucks, cranes, backhoes, trackhoes, air compressors, and concrete saw.
- Operates Gas torches (cutting and brazing).
- Must be proficient with basic and specialized hand tools and power tools.
- Must be able to read plans and schematic diagrams.
- Must have basic computer skills.
- Must be proficient at programming and setting up controllers, video detection, and communications equipment.
- Must be proficient at traffic signal wiring.
- Ability to efficiently supervise others, analyze and solve work problems, make decisions.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, often under adverse weather conditions.
- Ability to follow and transmit clear written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public.
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with others.
CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, and TRAINING
- CDL class A preferred
- Must be insurable.
- Must meet "Competent Person" requirements
- Hazard Communications/MSDS
- WL Bucket Truck/Aerial Lift, and Fall protection.
- WL Trencher, Excavation, and Utility Damage Prevention.
- WL Crane and Rigging/Material Handling
- IMSA Work Zone Safety Certification or equivalent.
- IMSA Traffic Signal Level I Certification.
- IMSA Traffic Signal Inspector Certification.
- IMSA Roadway Lighting Certification.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
- Must be able to work at heights over 15 feet.
- Must be able to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
