Job description

Title: Foreman
Department: Production
Reports to (Primary): Project Manager
Reports to (Secondary): Director of Operations
Job Summary:

The Foreman must represent the company in a friendly and professional manner to its customers, subcontractors, and fellow co‑workers, upholding DBC’s Core Values of treating everyone well, keeping everything clean, and excelling every time, in all interactions – they will also ensure their team is conducting themselves in the same manner.

Foreman is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of large‑scale projects assigned by DBC, up to and including the supervision of multiple team members or multiple crews across various job sites. They will collaborate with the Project Manager (PM), but He/She must be capable of leading with little oversight required from the PM. He/She will ensure tasks are completed efficiently, on time, safely, and to the required quality standards. He/She must provide strong leadership, guidance, and feedback to team members while delegating tasks based on project timelines and worker expertise. He/She is tasked with mentoring and training their team members. They are responsible for the overall performance of their team(s) while working hands‑on to complete the job assigned.

They will be responsible for attending weekly training meetings and other training courses required. In general, most time will be spent in the field.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Collaborate with the PM and Subs to execute projects, monitor progress, and adjust schedules to meet deadlines.
  • Oversee daily job site operations, ensuring adherence to the installation plan and adjusting as needed.
  • Communicate additional labor or material needs to the PM in a timely manner.
  • Lead daily 5‑minute morning team meetings to set goals and delegate tasks.
  • Work hands‑on to complete projects on time and within budget.
  • Train team members in new skills and DBC installation techniques.
  • Monitor and ensure quality workmanship, correcting errors through instruction and praising efficient work.
  • Report disciplinary issues (e.g., repeated tardiness, poor work quality, insubordination) to the PM.
  • Communicate daily with customers via phone call, text, in‑person, or written notes.
  • Notify PM and customers of changes to the plan, scope, or issues; follow protocol for Change Orders.
  • Coordinate deliveries and verify materials received.
  • Schedule subcontractors and provide scope details.
  • Submit daily job log entries with progress photos through the company app.
  • Complete and submit Job Start and Closeout Checklists, review cards, final payments, and receipts (labeled correctly).
  • Track inventory, tools, and materials; oversee proper usage and maintain a clean, stocked work trailer.
  • Identify and implement Lean practices to improve productivity without compromising quality or customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure accurate time tracking via the company app for yourself and team members.
Essential Skills:
  • Skilled in all areas of construction (rough and finish) with a strong understanding of industry‑specific practices
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Proficient with tools and technology relevant to the field
  • Understand workplace safety standards
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Work well with customers and co‑workers
  • Ability to lift 75lbs unassisted, work outside for extended periods of time, and work on high surfaces, as needed
  • Continually develop skills through personal improvement - eagerness to learn and grow
  • Calm under pressure with strong attention to detail
  • Honesty and Integrity, a must
  • Valid Driver’s License
Tools Necessary to Complete Job:
  • A smartphone for necessary company apps
  • Basic hand tools with toolbelt, including safety glasses & ear protection
  • Reliable transportation to transport oneself to and from the job site daily
Education and Experience:
  • 9+ years of carpentry experience
Compensation & Hours:
  • Pay is bi‑weekly
  • Hourly pay (rate is based on skills and experience and determined by the PM)
  • Bonus pay available
  • Production Hours (typical hours, but subject to change at any time for any reason):
  • 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
  • 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (Wednesday)
  • Overtime available on a job‑by‑job basis
Benefits:
  • Paid Time Off (available after a 60‑day probationary period): PTO (amount determined by PM and Dir. of Operations, 10 major holidays, 1 birthday day off)
