Job summary

Sims Metal is seeking a hands-on Working Yard Foreman for a busy Pick & Pull / auto salvage yard. This leadership role involves active yard work, heavy equipment operation, and oversight of daily activities to meet goals.

You will learn and work across yard areas with emphasis on safety and efficient operations. The role requires working with loaders, excavators, forklifts, and related machinery, plus training staff on safe procedures to maintain a productive environment.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of heavy equipment or industrial yard experience preferred.
• Experience with loaders, excavators, or similar heavy equipment.
• Strong safety, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Work hands-on in all areas of the Pick & Pull yard as needed.
• Assist with leading and coordinating daily yard activities.
• Operate loaders, excavators, forklifts, skid steers, and other heavy equipment.
• Move, stage, organize, and process vehicles throughout the yard.

Working Yard Foreman – Pick & Pull Yard

Pay: Starting at $26/hour, with the potential to pay more based on experience.

Job Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Working Yard Foreman for a busy Pick & Pull / auto salvage yard. This is a working leadership role that will assist with day-to-day yard activities while actively working alongside the team. This position will learn and work in all areas of the yard, with a strong focus on heavy equipment operation, equipment maintenance, safety, and supporting daily yard operations.

• Strong mechanical aptitude and basic equipment maintenance knowledge.
• Previous lead or foreman experience preferred.
• Willingness to work in all areas of the yard, not just operate equipment.
• Strong safety, communication, and leadership skills.
• Auto salvage, Pick & Pull, scrap metal, or recycling experience is a plus.
