Position Summary

The Food Warehouse CDL Driver is responsible for safely operating a 26-foot truck to pick up and distribute food, while supporting day-to-day warehouse operations when not on the road.

Please note: The schedule for this position is Monday through Thursday, 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and Friday, 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. This position does not require weekend work.

  • Pick up food from partner agencies, suppliers, and other donors
  • Deliver food to agencies courteously and on time
  • Oversee the loading and unloading of the truck
  • Maintain accurate vehicle logs and track deliveries
  • Coordinate pickups and deliveries with other drivers
  • Perform routine truck maintenance and daily vehicle inspections
  • Support day-to-day warehouse operations when needed (including moving pallets, stacking product, organizing the warehouse, and conducting inventory)

Skill and Education
  • High‑school diploma/GED or equivalent work experience (required)
  • Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with clean driving record (required)
  • 5+ years of experience driving a truck with a CDL
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment including electric jacks and forklift (required); 5+ years of experience operating warehouse equipment (preferred)
  • Familiarity with New York City roads
  • Comfortable using an iPad/tablet and smartphone for data entry, inventory management, and communication
  • Ability to read/write/speak English
Physical Demands/Special Requirements
  • Requires extended periods of standing, walking, and performing manual labor both indoors and outdoors, including in inclement weather.
  • Requires the ability to lift, carry, and move heavy items (up to 30-pounds to stock shelves) on a regular basis.
  • Steel‑toe work boots must be worn at all times while in the warehouse. Clothing should be appropriate for a professional setting and public interactions, avoiding any profanity, political statements or offensive branding.
Compensation

$21 - $25 per hour, commensurate with skills and experience
