Job summary

Chartwells Higher Ed Dining Services at Baylor University in Waco, TX is seeking a Food Unit Lead to coordinate dining operations and lead a team of food-service staff. The role requires experience as a Starbucks Lead and strong customer service skills to ensure exceptional guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate activities of other food-service employees to ensure smooth dining operations.
  • Oversee preparation and service of food and beverages per company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control.
  • Help plan menus and ensure timely, efficient meal service.
  • Supervise serving of meals and respond to customer complaints promptly.
  • Train employees and coordinate work to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service.
  • Manage work procedures, schedules and workflow; generate daily/weekly/monthly reports.
  • Handle cash as per Food Accounting Manual and manage deposits, petty cash and cash handling.

  • Position: FOOD UNIT LEAD (Full-Time)
  • Location: Baylor University, 1120 South 5th, Waco, TX 76706
  • Schedule: Open availability; shifts may vary. Details provided in interview.
  • Requirements: Experience as Starbucks Lead and customer service experience preferred.
  • Pay: $22.00 - $26.00 per hour.

Job Summary

Coordinates the activities of other food-service employees and creates an enjoyable dining experience for customers, staff, and visitors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide quality customer service with one‑on‑one attention to detail.
  • Oversee and participate in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in accordance with company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety, and portion control.
  • Help plan menus.
  • Ensure timely, efficient meal service; supervise serving of meals.
  • Respond to customer complaints in person at the time of the complaint and via email for electronic complaints.
  • Train employees; assign and coordinate work of employees to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow.
  • Use proper systems for completion of required daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory‑cash reports, production records, payroll and time‑keeping.
  • Handle cash properly as established by the Food Accounting Manual (deposits, petty cash, change funds).
  • Order food and supplies from approved sources or purveyors.
  • Direct and participate in overall sanitation and safety of the facility and employees in accordance with company standards and government regulations.
  • Develop sanitation schedule and ensure food‑service employees adhere to it for cleaning of kitchen and dining area and washing of kitchen utensils and equipment.
  • Issue written and oral instructions.
  • Help select and orient employees; oversee staff training in areas of responsibility.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
