Job summary

Chartwells K-12 in University City, MO, is seeking a Food Unit Lead to coordinate activities of food-service staff and create an enjoyable dining experience for students, staff and visitors.

The role is full-time with varied days, 6:30 AM–2:30 PM, pay $17.00–$18.50 per hour. Responsibilities include supervising meal preparation, ensuring quality service, planning menus, training staff, and maintaining sanitation and safety standards.

• Previous food-service and cooking experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality customer service with detailed one-on-one attention.
• Oversee and participate in the preparation and service of food and beverages in accordance with company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety, and portion control.
• Help plan menus.
• Ensure timely, efficient meal service; supervise meal serving.
• Respond to customer complaints in person and via email.
• Train employees; assign and coordinate work to promote efficiency and excellence.
• Determine work procedures, prepare schedules, and expedite workflow.
• Use proper systems for required daily, weekly, monthly reports (inventory-cash reports, production records, payroll, time-keeping).
• Responsible for proper cash handling as established by the Food Accounting Manual.
• Order food and necessary supplies from approved sources.
• Direct and participate in overall sanitation and safety of the facility and employees.
• Develop sanitation schedule and ensure compliance by staff.
• Issue written and oral instructions.
• Help select and orient employees; oversee training.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
