Job summary

Yona is seeking a Manager in Training (MIT) for Food Services to join the dietary department of a long-term care facility in New Jersey. The MIT will learn to organize, plan, direct, control and supervise functions and personnel while delivering high-quality dining programs that meet regulations.

The role emphasizes supervising staff, training, budgeting, and ensuring a safe, sanitary operation with potential for growth and advancement within the food services team.

Qualifications

  • Associate's or higher degree in food service management or hospitality from an accredited institution
  • Food service supervisory experience required; at least two years in long term care preferred
  • ServSafe Certification for Managers, National Restaurant Association
  • Certified Dietary Manager, CDM/CFPP per ANFP
  • Skilled in motivating and supervising staff
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet goals
  • Public speaking skills
  • Administrative and organizational follow-through skills
  • Ability to work all shifts as needed
  • Proficient in Windows-based Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Food Services Director with leading quality dining programs for residents
  • Ensure dining programs meet federal, state, and local standards and regulations
  • Train workers in procedures and operation of equipment
  • Supervise and evaluate the quality of work by department staff
  • Plan work and staffing schedules to ensure adequate services
  • Maintain records including inventory, compliance, income/expense, and personnel records
  • Manage a cost-effective program to budget
  • Maintain excellent relations with residents, visitors and community departments
  • Participate in facility meetings and committees
  • Follow all company policies and procedures
  • Promote professional growth and development of the department team
  • Conduct quality assurance rounds and inspections for quality controls
  • Report monthly initiatives, goals, and accomplishments
  • Promote and monitor resident satisfaction
  • Ensure food service operation is clean, safe, and sanitary

Responsibilities:


  • Assist the Food Services Director with leading quality dining programs that will enhance the meal experience for the residents

  • Works with the Food Services Director to ensure the dining programs meet federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations

  • Trains workers in procedures and proper operation and maintenance of equipment

  • Supervises and evaluates the quality of work completed by department employees

  • Plans work and staffing schedules to ensure adequate services are rendered. Maintains proper staffing levels

  • Maintains required records including but not limited to; inventory, compliance, income/expense, and personnel records

  • Manages a cost-effective program to budget

  • Maintains excellent relations with residents, visitors, and all community departments

  • Actively participates in facility meetings and committees

  • Follows all Company policies and procedures

  • Promotes the professional growth and development of the entire departmental team

  • Conducts quality assurance rounds and inspections to ensure current quality controls and methodologies are suitable and sustainable

  • Reports monthly initiatives, goals, and accomplishments

  • Promotes and monitors resident satisfaction

  • Ensures that the food service operation is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner


Requirements:


  • Associate's or higher degree in food service management or in hospitality, including a course of study in food service or restaurant management from an accredited institution of higher learning

  • Food service supervisory experience required; at least two years experience in long term care preferred

  • ServSafe Certification for Managers, National Restaurant Association

  • Certified Dietary Manager, Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM, CFPP), per the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers, the credentialing agency of the Association of Nutrition & Foodservice Professionals (ANFP)

  • Skilled in motivating and supervising staff members

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service and quality attitude

  • Ability to work under pressure and meet established goals and objectives

  • Public speaking skills

  • Excellent stress management skills, administrative and organizational, and follow-through (with associates and clients) skills required

  • Ability to work all shifts as needed

  • Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
