Job summary

Lifepath-Thrift-Stores is seeking a dedicated kitchen associate to assist with weekly menu planning, meal prep, and serving. You will help oversee volunteers, ensure ServSafe standards, and contribute to nutritionally balanced meals for community members.

Qualifications

  • One or more years of commercial kitchen experience.
  • Excels in a fast-paced work environment.
  • Ability to communicate with other staff.
  • Enjoys menu planning and teamwork.
  • Able to create nutritional meals from available resources.
  • Model Christ-likeness in conduct and conversation as described in core values.
  • Good discernment with regard to people and situations; exercise patience, wisdom, and accountability within an environment of grace.
  • Computer literate, proficient with Microsoft Office software, internet and email

Responsibilities

  • Assist with creating weekly/bi-weekly menu
  • Meal set up and clean up
  • Preparation of meals
  • Assist with serving meals to community and guests
  • Oversee volunteers and guests who assist in the kitchen and ensure all ServSafe food handling requirements are practiced
  • Serve appealing and nutritionally balanced meals of reasonable portion
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the kitchen to yield positive inspection results
  • Complete all required food safety logs and documentation
  • Ensure kitchen is properly cleaned up and closed/secured with no guests in the area
  • Check freshness of food and rotate or discard out of date items
  • Accept donations dropped off at the Food Pantry and complete required documentation
  • Operate and clean various kitchen equipment
  • Provide guidance and encouragement to guests doing tasks in kitchen/dining room
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Participate in weekly meetings and monthly trainings

Reports to: Manager, Food Services

FLSA: Nonexempt

Essential Duties:


  • Assist with creating weekly/bi-weekly menu

  • Meal set up and clean up

  • Preparation of meals

  • Assist with serving meals to community and guests

  • Oversee volunteers and guests who assist in the kitchen and ensure all ServSafe food handling requirements are practiced

  • Serve appealing and nutritionally balanced meals of reasonable portion

  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in the kitchen to yield positive inspection results

  • Ability to stand and/or sit for long periods of time, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb stairs, push, and pull items weighing 100 pounds or less; manual dexterity; auditory and visual skills; ability to follow written and oral instructions and procedures

  • Possess a valid driver's license in accordance with our insurance provider’s requirements

  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a DOT physical card
