Position Summary

This is manual and semi-skilled work in the performance of advanced food service duties. Work involves responsibility in serving foods and cleaning facilities for limited food preparation tasks and for related food service duties. Employees of this class apply limited skills and knowledge that are required through experience.

Duties include responsibility for operation of equipment in the production of food and maintaining high standards of cleanliness; and for assuring that patrons are served in a pleasant and courteous manner. Assignments are received in the form of specific oral and written instructions and are reviewed by assigned supervisor.

Weekend and evening work.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Ability to read and follow chemical label instructions, check product expiration dates and take temperature on thermometers.
  • Ability to do simple math to increase or decrease simple recipe.
Physical Demands
  • Work long hours while standing in extreme temperatures.
  • Lift and move items weighing 50 pounds or more.
  • Driving as needed to perform job duties.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Wash, cut, and prepare fruits and vegetables for salad bar and other eating events.
  • Assist with frying and baking light foods such as tenders, fries, burgers, and other foods while also assisting with special diet requests.
  • Assist with set up, monitoring, operation, breakdown, and clean-up of work area in kitchen.
  • Assist with set up, monitoring, and breakdown of salad bar with minimal assistance.
  • Assist with cleaning and sanitizing of prep areas (i.e., sweep, mop, clean tables and chairs, empty trash, clean counters).
  • Wash pots, pans, utensils, and other food prep items as used in the production area of the kitchen.
