Job summary

Memorial Hospital Belleville/Memorial Hospital Shiloh, part of BJC HealthCare, is seeking a Food & Nutrition Service worker to support patient meals daily and ensure high quality service.

You will assemble patient trays, portion foods, operate the cash register, maintain sanitation, and respond to patient requests in a courteous manner. This PRN role offers shifts from 7:00 to 3:30 or 3:30 to 8:00, with rotating weekends and holidays, and benefits through BJC Total Rewards.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• No prior experience required for PRN role.
• Ability to follow menus, diet orders and portion guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Provides customer service in a professional and friendly manner, and follows food safety and portion guidelines.
• Assembles meals according to the menu, diet order and correct protocol.
• Ensures work area is set up and supplies and products are organized before, during and after shift.
• Cleans and sanitizes work station and utensils.
• Uses equipment and materials properly and safely.

Overview

Memorial Hospital Belleville is an acute care hospital offering medical and surgical services plus critical and emergency care including Children’s at Memorial for pediatric emergency care. It provides patients a full complement of diagnostic and treatment services as well as heart and vascular care. Memorial, offering medical and surgical services plus critical care, is an accredited Chest Pain Center with PCI by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care and is designated as an Acute Stroke Ready Hospital by the Illinois Department of Public Health. In addition, Memorial Belleville recently was accredited by the American College of Radiology as a designated Lung Cancer Screening Center. Since 2008, it has been designated as a Magnet®-recognized organization for nursing excellence by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Memorial Hospital Shiloh, a 94-bed, all-private suite hospital was recognized with Magnet status in 2018 and provides emergency care, labor & delivery, nursery, medical and surgical services plus critical care.

The Food & Nutrition Service is responsible for providing high quality nutrition services to patients, staff and visitors on a daily basis. Services also include vending machines and meeting/special event catering.

Role Purpose

Responsible for performing a variety of food service functions such as setting up of service areas with food, utensils, and garnishments, food portioning, serving, sanitation, operating cash register, assembling patient trays and assisting with customer requests. Position may also perform food preparation at some locations.
