Job summary

Chartwells K-12 is seeking a Food Service Worker for Newtown Public Schools in Sandy Hook, CT. Both full-time and part-time schedules are available, typically from 7:30 am to 2:00 pm, with a pay rate of $17.50 per hour. No prior experience required; training will be provided.

Summers and weekends off with paid holidays may apply, depending on school operations. Responsibilities include food prep, portion control, serving customers, maintaining safety standards, and proper sanitation.

• Perform prep work such as washing, peeling, cutting and seeding fruits and vegetables.
• Weigh and measure designated ingredients.
• Carry pans, kettles and trays of food to and from work stations, stove and refrigerator in accordance with safety standards.
• Store food in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety and rotation procedures.
• Clean work areas, equipment and utensils.
• Distribute supplies, utensils and portable equipment.
• Utilize approved food recipes and production standards to ensure proper quality, serving temperatures and standard portion control.
• Serve customers in a friendly, efficient manner following outlined steps of service.
• Resolve customer concerns and relay relevant information to supervisor.
• Ensure compliance with company service standards and inventory and cash control procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all sanitation and safety requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
