General Description

Kalamazoo Gospel Ministries is a privately funded 501(c)3, evangelical Christian organization dedicated to sharing the Gospel and assisting the homeless and impoverished. All employees must have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Essential Functions

1. Uphold and promote the organization’s culture based on grace, aligning with KGM’s vision and purpose.
2. Coordinate donation pickups with organizations, volunteers, and the Food Service Director.
3. Record and report cooler/freezer temperatures outside standards.
4. Coordinate weekly food pulls with the Kitchen Manager and Director.
5. Communicate daily with the Kitchen Manager about donations for menu planning.
6. Refuel, store properly, and maintain cleanliness of mission vehicles.
7. Maintain organized storage of food and non-food items.
8. Use FIFO to rotate food appropriately and date incoming items.
9. Handle temperature-sensitive foods safely and promptly.
10. Supervise volunteers and guests in sorting and storing donations.
11. Oversee creation/distribution of emergency food baskets and record donations to partner organizations.
12. Weigh and record all food donations using Thrift Tracker and report data to South Michigan Food Bank.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• High ethical standards and decision-making skills.
• Ability to drive large trucks and operate scales and equipment like pallet jacks.
• Familiarity with navigation devices for donor locations.

Working Conditions

Work varies from 0-110°F, involving standing, reaching, climbing, lifting (up to 50 lbs), and bending, frequently and occasionally as specified.

Pay Range

$15 per hour.
