Job summary

The Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services is seeking a full-time Food Service Technician I at the Northern VA Mental Health Inst to provide safe, nutritious meals and support recovery.

You will assist with food preparation, cafeteria service, cleaning and sanitation, following menus and recipes, and ensuring compliance with nutrition and sanitation standards. This role offers a stable government benefits package.

Job Duties

NVMHI is seeking a full time Food Service Technician to provide safe, quality, nutritional care to support the recovery of individuals with serious mental illness so that they may achieve more satisfying and productive lives. Position assists Food Service Technician II in food preparation, cafeteria service, cleaning and sanitation.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Overall knowledge and skill in food production, cooking, chilling, food service
  • Knowledge of basic nutrition standards.
  • Knowledge of correct methods of storage.
  • Knowledge of correct sanitation standards.
  • Ability to read menus and follow recipes.
  • Ability to give and receive written and oral instructions.
