POSITION OVERVIEW

Prince George’s Christian Academy is seeking a dedicated Food Services Manager to join our team and support the Food Services Department in providing nutritious meals and snacks to our students. This is a full-time position reporting to the Food Services Supervisor and may be assigned to either the Upper School campus (Sheriff Rd) or the Lower School campus (Brightseat Rd). The operating hours for the Food Services Department are Monday through Friday, from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM. The hours for this position are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday to Friday.

MANAGERIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Management:
  • Oversee the daily operations of the cafeteria, including food preparation, serving, and sanitation, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations.

Staff Management:

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate food service staff, addressing any performance issues and ensuring a positive work environment.

Budget Management:

  • Develop and manage the food service budget, including purchasing food, equipment, and supplies.

Menu Planning, Preparation and Nutrition:

  • Develop and implement nutritious and appealing menus that meet the needs of students and staff, while adhering to dietary guidelines and regulations. Prepare regular and special meals, bag lunches, and snacks in accordance with established guidelines when needed. Prepare food service for occasional field trips and other designated events on behalf of PGCA.
Quality Control:
  • Ensure the quality and safety of food served, implementing and maintaining food safety protocols and sanitation standards. Maintain a clean and sanitary kitchen environment, adhering to the highest standards set by the State Health Department.

Compliance:

  • Stay informed about the nutritional requirements of children as outlined by the Maryland State Department of Education and the Child and Adult Care Food Programs.
  • Ensure proper stocking of food services pantry, storage area, and refrigerators.

Communication:

  • Serve as a point of contact for parents, staff, and administrators regarding food service issues and concerns. Work together with the Food Services Manager at the other campus.

Data Management:

  • Maintain accurate records of food inventory, costs, and program performance.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify areas for improvement in the food service program and implement strategies to enhance efficiency and quality.

Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Membership, in good standing, of a local Bible-believing church, or willingness to become a member.
  • Passion for education and dedication to serving the Christian community.
  • Agreement with our Statement of Faith and Christian philosophy of education.
  • Commitment to being a Christian role model in attitude, speech, and actions.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Education and Maryland state certification as a food Service Manager safety and sanitation preferred.
  • Preferred experience in quantity food production and preparation.
  • Knowledge of measuring, weighing, following recipes, and operating equipment in a production kitchen.
  • Ability to interact tactfully, effectively, and courteously with students, staff, and others encountered during work.
  • Positive team player with the ability to work quickly and accurately.
  • Able to follow written and oral instructions and procedures.
  • Capable of standing, reaching, lifting, bending, kneeling, stooping, climbing, pushing, pulling, and lifting items weighing 50 lbs. or less. Ability to stand or walk for 95% of the workday.
  • Exceptional manual dexterity, auditory, and visual skills.
