The position requires a high school diploma and some cooking experience, plus completion of the Defensive Driving Course. It involves supervising adult inmates and operating kitchen equipment in a state-employed setting.

Under general supervision, performs duties in food services to include food preparation, cooking, serving and delivering meals inside the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice facilities. Cleans assigned areas of food services to meet guidelines and standards set by the Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC). Provide excellent customer service and continually assessing performance based on customer feedback.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation or recapture of youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
