Job summary

Nevada City School of the Arts (NCSOTA), a TK-8 charter school, is seeking a dynamic Food Service Production Assistant to join our Nourish NCSA Nutrition Services team. This role supports meal prep, sanitation, inventory, and safety compliance in a school setting.

The position is full-time for the 2026-27 school year with an hourly wage of $20.60 to $25.77, depending on experience. Candidates must obtain a service safe certificate within 30 days of employment.

Qualifications

• Must obtain Service Safe Certificate or State/County Food Handler's Permit within 30 days of employment.
• Fingerprint and Background clearance within offer acceptance.
• CPR/First Aid Certification within 45 days of employment and every two years thereafter.

Responsibilities

• Understands and communicates the Nourish NCSA Nutrition Services Program philosophy.
• Prepares ingredients according to planned menu and recipes.
• Operates dish machine, pot washing area and maintains organized storage for all production equipment.
• Receives, stores and inventories foodstuff, paper, chemicals and supplies per SOPs.
• Wraps, labels and rotates prepared food as assigned.
• Maintains cleanliness and sanitation of kitchen, cafeteria and storage areas.
• Records and maintains temperature logs as assigned.
• Operates and maintains food service equipment (stoves, ovens, mixers, etc.).
• Establishes positive relations with students, staff, administration, parents and community members.
• Performs related duties and reports unsafe conditions.

JOB TITLE: FOOD SERVICE PRODUCTION ASSISTANT

SCHEDULE: 2026-27 School Year – Full-time

WAGE: $20.60 - $25.77 per hour, depending on experience

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Understands and is able to communicate the philosophy of the Nourish NCSA Nutrition Services Program.
• Prepares ingredients according to the planned menu and prescribed recipes as needed.
• Operates dish machine, pot washing area and maintains organized storage area of all equipment used in the production facility.
• Participates in the proper receiving, storage and inventorying of all foodstuff, paper, chemicals and supplies according to Standard Operating Procedures.
• Wraps, labels and rotates prepared food as assigned.
• Maintains the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen, cafeteria and storage areas including, but not limited to, walk-ins, refrigerators, freezers, dry storage and cafeteria area.
• Records and maintains temperature logs as assigned.
• Operates and maintains food service equipment such as stoves, ovens, mixers, food processor and commercial dis/hasher.
• Establishes and maintains positive relations with internal and external customers, including students, staff, and school administration, parents, and community members.
• Performs related duties as assigned.
• Report all unsafe working conditions.
• Abide by all NCSOTA Employee Handbook guidelines.
• Completion of mandatory training (video & in-person) within 6 weeks of employment and every year thereafter.
• Perform all other duties as needed or assigned.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

These requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance.
