Job summary

The GEO Group Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a dedicated Food Services professional to supervise detainee meal preparation and ensure sanitation in a corrections facility.

You will monitor inmate movements, assist during emergencies, and maintain daily logs while upholding safety policies and ACA training standards. This role requires reliability, physical stamina, and the ability to work extended shifts in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• ACA required training completed or in-house.
• Experience in food service activities.
• College coursework in behavioral sciences or related field preferred.
• State prerequisites for employment required.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to handle physical and mental stress of long shifts.
• Must report to work on time and be physically alert.

Responsibilities

• Direct, supervise, and monitor detainees assigned to Food Services, including food prep, cleanup, and sanitation.
• Monitor inmate movements, conduct counts, and respond to emergencies.
• Perform shakedowns for contraband and confiscate prohibited items.
• Keep daily logs on inmates, including disciplinary reports.
• Provide prompt assistance to those injured or traumatised.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to keep the facility clean.

Responsibilities

In This Role You Will:

• Direct, supervise, and monitor detainees assigned to Food Services in terms of food preparation, cleanup, and sanitation.
• Monitor inmate or detainee movements, conduct counts, and respond to emergencies.
• Perform shakedowns for contraband materials and confiscate prohibited items as per policies and procedures.
• Keep daily logs on inmates (including disciplinary reports).
• Provide prompt and appropriate assistance to those who have been injured, ill, or have suffered trauma.
• Report any maintenance or repair needs to keep your facility clean.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.
• Successful completion of training courses as required by GEO and facility training standards, including ACA required training.
• Demonstrated experience in food service activities, with commercial or institutional meal preparation preferred.
• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred. Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity preferred.
• Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with working extended hours.
• Must be able to regularly report to work without being late.
• Ability to be physically alert on any shift that is assigned.
• Ability to work up to sixteen (16) hours within a rolling twenty-four (24) hour period.
• Work experience in a correctional setting preferred.
• May be required to possess valid state driver’s license.
• Must be mature, flexible, able to command the respect and confidence of inmates or detainees and staff and possess a high tolerance to mental stress.
