Job summary

The GEO Group, Inc. is seeking a Food Services Supervisor for a detention facility in Louisiana.

You will direct, supervise, and monitor detainees in food preparation, cleaning, and sanitation, ensure counts and meals meet safety standards, and respond to emergencies. You will keep daily logs, report maintenance needs, and help manage overtime while maintaining calm, professional supervision of staff and inmates.

Qualifications

• Experience in food service activities, with emphasis on institutional or commercial settings.
• Ability to work overtime as required.
• Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Direct, supervise, and monitor detainees assigned to Food Services in terms of food preparation, cleanup, and sanitation.
• Monitor inmate or detainee movements, conduct counts, and respond to emergencies.
• Perform shakedowns for contraband and confiscate prohibited items as per policies.
• Keep daily logs on inmates (including disciplinary reports).
• Provide prompt and appropriate assistance to those who have been injured, ill, or traumatised.
• Report maintenance or repair needs to keep your facility clean.

In This Role You Will

• Direct, supervise, and monitor detainees assigned to Food Services in terms of food preparation, cleanup, and sanitation.


• Monitor inmate or detainee movements, conduct counts, and respond to emergencies.

• Keep daily logs on inmates (including disciplinary reports).


• Provide prompt and appropriate assistance to those who have been injured, ill, or have suffered trauma.


• Report any maintenance or repair needs to keep your facility clean.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent certification required.


• Successful completion of training courses as required by GEO and facility training standards, including ACA required training.


• Demonstrated experience in food service activities, with commercial or institutional meal preparation preferred.


• College coursework and advanced training in behavioral sciences, correctional services or related field preferred. Training in cultural diversity or sensitivity preferred.


• Possession of applicable state requisites for employment.


• Ability to work overtime as required.


• Ability to handle physical and mental stress associated with working extended hours.


• Must be able to regularly report to work without being late.


• Ability to be physically alert on any shift that is assigned.


• Ability to work up to sixteen (16) hours within a rolling twenty-four (24) hour period.


• Work experience in a correctional setting preferred.


• May be required to possess valid state driver’s license.


• Must be mature, flexible, able to command the respect and confidence of inmates or detainees and staff and possess a high tolerance to mental stress.


• Although advanced training or college coursework is not required, it would be highly desirable if you had experience in behavioral sciences, correctional services, or a related field. Training in cultural diversity is also a plus.

Physical Requirements

In this position, you will frequently have to bend, stoop, and reach above shoulder level. You should also be able to:

• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 60 lbs. (sometimes more).


• Drive automatic equipment vehicle.


• Climb, sit and sometimes work in extreme temperatures.
