Valdez City Schools is seeking a Nutrition Services/ Food Service I/Warehouse worker in Valdez, AK. The role supports breakfast and lunch service, manages receiving, warehousing, and distribution of inventory, and maintains cleanliness and organization in the kitchen and storeroom.
Responsibilities include inventory, order verification, and assisting in food prep and serving. Requires strong communication and ability to follow directions with minimal supervision.
SUMMARY: Under direct supervision of the Food Service Manager, this position works to serve the students and staff of Valdez City Schools with attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness, and friendliness. In addition to performing a variety of tasks preparing and serving breakfasts and lunches for their assigned building, this position is also responsible for receiving, recording, warehousing, and distributing inventory accurately.
This position assists with the preparation and serving of meals. In addition, the occupant of this position may be called upon to help train new employees.
This job operates indoors in a kitchen environment. This role routinely uses a variety of equipment in the production of school breakfasts and lunches. The occupant of this position may be required to work in different school buildings depending on need.
Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 70 pounds with assistance. Additional physical abilities include lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling, stooping/crouching, reaching overhead/handling, repetitive use of hands, speaking, hearing conversations, and near/far visual acuity, depth perception, and field of vision.
This is a full-time position, with benefits. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7-8 hours/day. This position operates for 180 days out of the year. Salary Grade Level C
Travel is not expected for this position.
The successful candidate will be required to present a valid criminal background check upon hire.

Currently monthly employee paid premium is less than $100 per family for medical, RX, dental, vision, & hearing. Basic life insurance policy is provided. Benefits become effective following 30worked days.
