Job summary

IKEA Paramus is hiring a Food Service Team Member to deliver high-quality food items and great customer service in a fast-paced retail setting. You will handle orders, support transactions, and maintain clean dining and display areas while adhering to safety standards.

The role requires 2–3 years in similar environments, a food handler certificate (as required locally), and flexibility to work 12–20 hours per week including some Fridays and Saturdays.

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of related experience.
  • Experience in a high-volume customer-facing environment.
  • Experience in high-volume retail with basic merchandising concepts.
  • Food Handler Certification/card within 30 days of employment if required locally.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain IKEA Food items per concept and standards.
  • Assist customers with inquiries and process sales accurately.
  • Maintain equipment; perform preventive and cleaning maintenance.
  • Keep dining and play areas clean and organized.
  • Oversee merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and sanitation of sampling areas.
  • Ensure accurate price communication across all food solutions (digital, boards, tags).
  • Maintain FIFO and expiry controls for IKEA Food supplies.
  • Assist with goods receiving and monthly inventory.
  • Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and workplace safety regulations.
  • Support an inclusive culture that respects co-workers and customers.

What you'll be doing day to day

As a Food Service Team Member ensuring operational excellence of IKEA Food, you will:

  • Prepare and maintain IKEA Food menu items according to the IKEA Food concept. Adhering to food handling, health, and sustainability standards.
  • Respond to customer inquiries to support informed purchases and process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, adhering to cash handling policies.
  • Maintain equipment operation through adherence to operating guidelines, troubleshooting breakdowns, and conducting preventive and cleaning maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean supply of dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and trays that comply with Food Safety Standards.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of dining and play areas.
  • Manage the Swedish Food Market by overseeing merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and the cleaning and sanitization of sampling equipment and areas.
  • Ensure accurate and timely price communication across all food solutions, including digital platforms, menu boards, and shelf tags.
  • Maintain supply rotation and stocking in all IKEA Food solutions, adhering to First In, First Out (FIFO), expiration dates, and sustainability standards.
  • Implements IKEA Food policies and procedures for goods receiving and monthly inventory.
  • Adhere to safe food handling, workplace safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations, promptly reporting concerns to managers.
  • Contribute to an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers.

JOB TYPE - Permanent, Part-time

BENEFITS ELIGIBLE? Yes

HOURS - 12-20 hours per week. Must be able to work some weekdays and weeknights. Must have complete open working availability on Fridays & Saturdays between the hours of 7:00am-10:00pm.

The hourly pay rate range for this role is $19.91 - $28.12

Qualifications
