Job summary

IKEA Gruppe in Hicksville, NY is seeking a Food Service Team Member to prepare and maintain IKEA Food menu items, while assisting customers with informed purchases.

You will handle cash transactions, support high-volume service, ensure safety and cleanliness, and contribute to a warm, welcoming dining area for guests and co-workers alike.

Qualifications

  • 2-3 years of related work experience in food service/restaurant setting.
  • Experience in a high-volume customer facing environment preferred.
  • Food Handler Certification required within 30 days of employment.
  • Experience in a high-volume retail environment with basic merchandising knowledge preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain IKEA Food menu items per IKEA Food concept.
  • Respond to customer inquiries to support informed purchases and process sales transactions.
  • Maintain equipment operation and perform preventive maintenance.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of dining and play areas.
  • Manage the Swedish Food Market merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and sanitation of sampling equipment.
  • Ensure accurate price communication across all food solutions, including digital platforms, boards and tags.
  • Adhere to food safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations; report concerns to managers.

What you'll be doing day to day
  • Prepare and maintain IKEA Food menu items according to the IKEA Food concept. Adhering to food handling, health, and sustainability standards.
  • Respond to customer inquiries to support informed purchases and process sales transactions accurately and efficiently, adhering to cash handling policies.
  • Maintain equipment operation through adherence to operating guidelines, troubleshooting breakdowns, and conducting preventive and cleaning maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean supply of dishes, silverware, cooking utensils, pots, pans, and trays that comply with Food Safety Standards.
  • Ensure the cleanliness and organization of dining and play areas.
  • Manage the Swedish Food Market by overseeing merchandising, pricing, stock rotation, and the cleaning and sanitization of sampling equipment and areas.
  • Ensure accurate and timely price communication across all food solutions, including digital platforms, menu boards, and shelf tags.
  • Maintain supply rotation and stocking in all IKEA Food solutions, adhering to First In, First Out (FIFO), expiration dates, and sustainability standards. Implements IKEA Food policies and procedures for goods receiving and monthly inventory.
  • Adhere to safe food handling, workplace safety, hygiene, and sanitation regulations, promptly reporting concerns to managers.
  • Contribute to an environment where the IKEA culture is a strong and living reality that embraces the diversity of co-workers and customers.

Employment Details

JOB TYPE - Permanent, Full-time

BENEFITS ELIGIBLE?: Yes

HOURS - 34-40 hours per week. Must have complete open working availability Sundays to Saturdays between the hours of 7:00AM to 10:00PM

The hourly pay rate range for this role is $19.91-28.12

Qualifications
