Qualified applicants have a high school diploma and be capable of driving CAP vehicles after obtaining the required certifications; prior child care or food service experience is valued.

  • Less than 1 year of successful experience in related field or combination of education and experience.
  • CAP Driving Certification (or ability to obtain within first 90 days)
  • CPR and First Aid (or ability to obtain) Required.
  • Food Handler Required.

  • Completes and maintains required records in accordance with the Federal Food Program guidelines and regulations, including meal counts and attendance in a timely manner.
  • Assists with participant transport by serving as a bus monitor with 3–5-year-old children as needed.

Summary:

Responsible for planning, preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks for preschool children in compliance with childcare licensing regulations, food safety standards and CACFP (Child and Adult Care Food Program) guidelines. Operates the kitchen smoothly, safely, and efficiently while supporting teachers and the overall mission of the center.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Prepares and serves breakfast, lunch and snacks according to the center’s daily schedule. Follows appropriate portion sizes and nutritional guidelines. Delivers meals to classrooms and maintains timely service. Implements weekly menus that meet federal nutrition and state licensing requirements. Posts menus and communicates menu changes as needed. 45%
  • Completes and maintains required records in accordance with the Federal Food Program guidelines and regulations, including meal counts and attendance in a timely manner. Maintains strict adherence to sanitation and food safety standards. Keeps accurate logs for temperatures, cleaning and food storage. Labels and dates all food items; monitors expirations dates and storage requirements. Maintains inventory of food, places orders with approved vendors and completes the grocery shopping. Stays within budget while minimizing waste. 35%
  • Assists with participant transport by serving as a bus monitor with 3–5-year-old children as needed. 20%

QualificationsEducation:

  • Possess a Valid Kentucky Driver's License and Maintain a Safe Driving Record Required
  • CAP Driving Certification* (or ability to obtain within first 90 days) Required
  • *In order to drive personal vehicle on CAP business, must obtain and maintain a policy of motor vehicle insurance coverage on privately-owned vehicle with insurance coverage amounts of $50,000 bodily injury per person per accident; $100,000 bodily injury for all bodily injuries per accident; and $50,000 property damage per accident.
  • CPR and First Aid (or ability to obtain) Required
  • Non-Contagious TB Test Result Required

Physical Requirements:
  • Ability to reach, push, pull, bend, stoop, stand, walk
  • Lift 50 lb from floor and carry 40 ft and place on shelf at 36 inches
  • Lift 18 lb from floor to shelf at 102 inch, using a step ladder if needed
  • Push with 45 lb of force for 5 ft
  • Lifts/moves items with unknown weight or that are awkward shapes and sizes with assistance
  • Have good visual acuity with corrective lenses
  • Have good hearing capabilities
