Job summary

Independence Health System in Greensburg is seeking a POS Associate to manage point-of-sale transactions and support retail food service. You will handle cash and card payments, assist in training new staff, perform opening/closing procedures, and ensure accuracy of end-of-day deposits.

Responsibilities

• Performs and navigates the functions of the POS system.
• Troubleshoots issues and calls for support as needed.
• Assists with the training of new register associates.
• Performs opening and closing POS procedures to include counting till and balancing reconciliation.
• Pulls end of day sales report and completes shift deposit.
• Charges customers appropriately for all items.
• Manages cash transactions promptly and no cash is left unattended.
• Processes credit card transactions through payment gateway.
• Notifies supervisor of any difficulties or discrepancies at the register.
• Keeps receipts of VOIDS with documentation.
• Performs excellent customer service skills with all customers.
• Handles service recovery immediately or involves supervisor as needed.
• Receives and distributes all messages in a timely manner.
• Stocks and replenishes areas in the retail setting to include condiments, beverages, and grab and go items.
• Serves hot food items to customers as needed.
• Practices good hygiene including hand washing and wearing hair restraints.
• Uses gloves when serving and preparing food.
• Properly labels items and discards expired.
• Stocks items with FIFO guidelines
• Performs routine cleaning assignments.
• Operates equipment safely according to manufacturer guidelines.
• Reports any equipment malfunctions or unsafe working conditions.

Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]

Required Qualifications/Experience

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Zero (0) to two (2) years of experience in food service, cash handling, retail operations, banks, or restaurants.
• Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
• Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

• Experience in Healthcare setting.

License, Certification & Clearances

• ServSafe Food Safety Certification preferred.
• Act 34-PA Criminal Record Check from the PA State Police system

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on‑call, etc.).
• Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
