Job summary

Jefferson Health is seeking a Food Service Associate to deliver patient meals with care across all patient ages. You will set up stations, stock supplies, and retrieve trays to ensure sanitary, timely service in a hospital setting.

You will follow recipes, maintain floor stocks, and adhere to safety standards including CDC hand hygiene. This role offers cross-training in tray line, storeroom, and dish areas.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred; 6+ months in food service preferred but not required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff with Jefferson Health values.
• Sets up and stocks assigned station before service and for next meal to ensure efficiency.
• May retrieve patient meal trays to ensure sanitary, safe and timely service.
• Maintains floor stock per par levels and records usage accordingly.
• Handles food per sanitary and safety guidelines and department policies.
• Prepares food using recipes to provide consistent, safe, nutritious meals within budget.
• Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines.
• May prepare or serve hot or cold beverages and ready-to-eat items like muffins or bagels.
• Stores leftovers properly and uses them in the next day/menu as appropriate.
• Packages, labels, and dates hot items per cook and chill guidelines; vacuum packs as required.
• Cross-trains to perform multiple duties including tray line, storeroom, and food prep areas.
• May work in dish room or pot area to support cleaning and sanitizing of equipment.
• Maintains proper care and safe storage of food, equipment, and surrounding area.
• Completes daily and special cleaning assignments to maintain a sanitary environment.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Reporting to the Supervisor of Food Service and with guidance and input from the Lead Food Service Associate, the Food Service Associate is responsible for patient meal and food service to ensure the patient satisfaction. Patients may range from infancy through late adulthood.**Job Description****Essential Functions:*** Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.* Sets up and stocks assigned station prior to the start of service and for next meal to facilitate meal service and ensure efficiency.(20%)* May retrieve patient meal trays to ensure sanitary, safe and timely patient meal service. (15%)* Maintains appropriate floor stock according par levels and records usage accordingly* Handles food according to proper sanitary and safety guidelines. Follows food service handling methods according to policies and procedures. (10%)* Ensures all food is prepared using recipes in order to provide consistent, safe, nutritionally appropriate, tasty meals that are cost and budget compliant. (10%)* Complies with current CDC hand hygiene guidelines.* May prepare or serve hot or cold beverages, such as coffee, espresso drinks, blended coffees, or teas. Serves prepared foods, such as muffins, biscotti, or bagels.* Stores leftovers appropriately and utilized same in subsequent day/menu in order to ensure that they are served within timeframe. (5%)* May package, label, and date hot food items for patient service and cafeteria operations according to established cook and chill guidelines. Properly vacuum packs all food products, as required.* May be utilized in multiple areas of need, therefore may be cross-trained to conduct many different duties such as, but not limited to tray line, storeroom, and food preparation areas.* May work in dish room or pot area to support proper cleaning and sanitizing of equipment in accordance with department standards* Maintains proper care and safe storage of food, equipment, and surrounding area.
