Job summary

Whispering Meadows Elementary School is hiring a Food Service Assistant for the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program. The role involves assisting with meal preparation and service, operating a dishwasher, and maintaining cleanliness in the kitchen.

The position is grant-funded for the 2026-2027 school year and part-time at four hours per day. Qualifications include safe operation of food service equipment, good communication, teamwork, and prior cafeteria or restaurant experience is desirable.

Terms of Employment

This position is for the 2026-2027 school year and grant funded on an annual basis. If funding is not renewed the following year, there is a possibility to move to a regular position based on district needs and staffing at that time. This position is 4 hours/day.

Purpose

Follows specific instructions and procedures to complete assigned duties with the primary objective of preparation and service of nutritional school meals as well as duties related to the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Grant Program. Each employee is part of our team with the common goal of serving our students delicious and nutritious school meals per the USDA regulations set forth. Meal programs must be served within the proper time limits. Duties can include, but will not be limited to: Operation of commercial dishwasher, training on and compliance in the use of cleaning chemicals, other necessary cleaning duties of the kitchen area, properly complete meal service on a cash register, putting away and organizing inventory, as well as additional duties assigned by the cafeteria manager.
