Job summary

NHC HealthCare Parklane in Columbia, SC is seeking a dedicated Food Service Aide to support our patient meal service. You will assist with food prep, meal delivery, and maintaining a clean, sanitary kitchen and dishroom environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork, reliable shifts, and adherence to food safety standards within a healthcare setting. Prior healthcare food service is valued but not required, with opportunities for growth and advancement.

Qualifications

• Healthcare food service experience preferred, not required.
• Ability to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Capable of standing for long periods and lifting moderate weights.

Responsibilities

• Assist with receiving and storing food and supplies; date, label, and store items properly.
• Scrape, wash, and sanitize dishes and utensils; ensure clean inventory.
• Transport and stock dishes, flatware, and pots/pans to meet meal prep schedules.
• Maintain a clean, sanitized dishroom and work area; perform assigned cleaning duties.

Food Service Aide Position Highlights

• Assists in receiving and storing food and supplies to prevent waste and assure quality products. Dates, labels, and stores items properly. Uses proper food handling techniques.
• Responsible for scraping, stacking, washing, and sanitizing dishes, flatware, utensils, pots/pans, etc. and for removing broken and chipped dishes and glassware from use. Wraps flatware if needed.
• Properly transports and stores dishes, flatware, utensils, pots/pans, etc. Responsible for having sufficient quantities of clean and sanitized dishes, flatware, utensils, pots/pans, etc. to meet time schedule for meal preparation and service.
• Cleans and sanitizes the dish machine and dish room. Empties and cleans/sanitizes the trash cans. Keeps work area clean and uncluttered and completes assigned cleaning duties.
