Role Description

The Server is a full-time or part-time, on-site position based in New York City. This role is responsible for delivering an exceptional dining experience through attentive, knowledgeable, efficient, and genuinely warm service.

Servers represent the hospitality standards of Forget About It and guide guests throughout the complete dining experience, from the initial welcome and menu presentation through food and beverage service, payment, and farewell.

The ideal candidate is confident, engaging, highly organized, and attentive to detail, with strong food and beverage knowledge and the ability to remain composed during fast-paced, high-volume service.

Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience
  • Welcome guests promptly with warmth, professionalism, and genuine hospitality.
  • Build meaningful relationships with guests and provide attentive, personalized service.
  • Guide guests through the menu, daily specials, wine list, cocktails, and other beverage offerings.
  • Make informed food and beverage recommendations based on guest preferences.
  • Maintain detailed knowledge of ingredients, preparation methods, allergens, dietary considerations, and beverage pairings.
  • Anticipate guest needs and remain attentive throughout the dining experience.
  • Recognize regular guests, special occasions, and individual preferences.
  • Handle guest feedback professionally and promptly, involving management when appropriate.
  • Thank every guest sincerely and invite them to return.
Food and Beverage Service
  • Accurately take and enter food and beverage orders into the POS system.
  • Confirm order details, allergies, modifications, and special requests before submission.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen, bar, runners, and other team members to ensure timely and accurate service.
  • Deliver food and beverages according to Company presentation and service standards.
  • Monitor table progression, pacing, and guest satisfaction throughout the meal.
  • Maintain beverage service, including appropriate wine presentation and responsible alcohol service.
  • Clear, reset, and maintain tables according to Company standards.
  • Present checks accurately and process cash and electronic payments according to Company procedures.
  • Use responsible and appropriate sales techniques to enhance the guest experience.
Restaurant Operations
  • Complete all assigned opening, side-work, restocking, cleaning, and closing responsibilities.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully prepared dining areas and service stations.
  • Restock service supplies as required before and throughout service.
  • Maintain accurate cash-handling and checkout procedures when applicable.
  • Support fellow Servers and other Front of House employees during busy service periods.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with Bartenders, Runners, Hosts, Kitchen employees, and Managers.
  • Participate actively in menu, beverage, service, allergy, food‑safety, and responsible alcohol‑service training.
  • Protect Company property and help prevent waste, breakage, and product loss.
Service Standards
  • Deliver service that is polished, genuine, attentive, and efficient.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism during high-volume service.
  • Demonstrate urgency without compromising accuracy or the guest experience.
  • Maintain excellent personal hygiene and professional presentation.
  • Arrive prepared and on time for every scheduled shift.
  • Follow Company service standards, policies, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Contribute to a respectful, collaborative, inclusive, and professional workplace culture.
Compliance and Safety
  • Verify guest age and identification before serving alcoholic beverages when required.
  • Refuse or discontinue alcohol service when legally required or when signs of intoxication are observed.
  • Follow all New York State alcoholic beverage laws and responsible alcohol‑service requirements.
  • Comply with New York City Department of Health sanitation and food‑safety standards.
  • Follow Company procedures concerning allergens, cleaning, workplace safety, and emergencies.
  • Immediately report spills, injuries, hazards, broken equipment, or unsafe conditions.

Employment Details
  • Employment type: Full-time or part-time, based on business needs.
  • Location: New York City, New York.
  • Classification: Non‑exempt, tipped employee.
  • Compensation: $15.00 per hour cash wage, plus tips, for guaranteed total compensation of at least $17.00 per hour.
  • This position participates in the Company’s Front of House tip pool, subject to applicable law and the Company’s written Tip Pool Policy.
  • If cash wages and tips do not reach the applicable New York City minimum wage, the Company will pay the required difference.
  • Tips are additional to the stated cash wage and may vary based on eligible hours worked and the total tips distributed through the tip pool.
  • Overtime is paid at the legally required rate for hours worked over 40 in a workweek.
  • Eligible employees accrue paid protected time in accordance with applicable New York State and New York City law and Company policy.

The stated cash wage reflects the base hourly compensation that Forget About Hospitality reasonably and in good faith expects to offer for this position at the time of posting. Applicable wage rates, tip credits, minimum‑wage requirements, and overtime calculations will be administered in accordance with applicable law.

Physical Requirements

This position requires prolonged periods of standing and walking, frequent bending, reaching, kneeling, and repetitive movement, and the ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 pounds.

The role involves continuous guest interaction and working in a busy restaurant environment with changing priorities, moderate noise levels, and frequent coordination with other departments.
