Job summary

Fortrex is seeking a meticulous Food Safety Sanitor to uphold cleanliness and safety in our Illinois-based food production facility. The role ensures high standards of sanitation and supports the mission of delivering top-quality products.

You will follow sanitation procedures, work with leads and management, and wear required PPE. The position involves standing for long periods and lifting hoses, equipment, and chemical containers in a production environment.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Ability to take direction from managers and be accountable for actions.
• Safety awareness and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in extreme temperature fluctuations (wet, hot, and/or cold).

Responsibilities

• Perform sanitation labor following the eight steps of sanitation.
• Work cooperatively with leads and management to ensure sanitation procedures are followed.
• Frequently lift hoses, equipment, and chemical containers.
• Wear employer-specified PPE such as gloves, face shield, eye goggles, aprons, boots, and safety glasses.
• Work in environments that may involve exposure to chemicals (PPE required).
• Remain standing, lifting, and crouching for periods at a time (often all night).
• Perform all tasks safely.
• Use lock-out tag-out (LOTO) procedures.
• Complete any other duties as assigned.
