Job summary

Surge Staffing is seeking a Food Safety / Quality Technician for 1st and 3rd shifts in Ohio. The role ensures products meet safety and quality requirements and conducts daily quality documentation and audits on the production floor.

The ideal candidate has food safety or healthcare background, strong attention to detail, and the ability to communicate issues promptly. Weekend work and a 3rd shift premium apply.

Qualifications

• Food quality or food safety experience preferred.
• Medical or healthcare field experience may be considered.
• Strong attention to detail required.
• Basic math skills helpful.
• Good organizational and time-management skills.
• Ability to identify quality or food safety issues and communicate concerns promptly.

Responsibilities

• Verify products are safe and meet quality standards.
• Monitor production and ensure GMP adherence.
• Verify product specs and safety standards are followed.
• Complete daily quality paperwork and documentation.
• Communicate deviations to Quality and Food Safety leadership.
• Interact with operators regarding quality requirements.
• Perform product inspections and laboratory work.
• Conduct raw material and inbound inspections.
• Perform SSOP, HACCP, GMP, and SQF monitoring daily.
• Stop production if quality or safety is not met.
• Sample products per customer specs and conduct testing.
• Perform temperature checks and equipment calibrations.
• Test sanitizers (ozone, PAA, Quat, chlorine).
• Inspect products and labels; assist investigations.
• Support CAPA activities and environmental swabbing.
• Monitor ambient/product temperatures and equipment inspections.
• Train employees on quality/safety procedures.
