Job summary

Ferrero is seeking a Food Safety & Quality Specialist (3rd Shift) at the Bloomington, IL plant. The role ensures product quality, conducts on‑floor inspections, and enforces GMP and food safety standards on a rotating 3rd shift.

Responsibilities include reviewing SAP-QM/Fenice reports, conducting sensory tests, training staff, and maintaining documentation for HACCP compliance. Strong communication and detail orientation are essential.

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree in Food Technology/Science/Biotechnology/Food Chemistry required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred.
  • Experience with GMP/HACCP and quality control is advantageous.

  • Inspect finished products to ensure quality specifications are met.
  • Review quality reports in SAP-QM or Fenice; verify monthly reports.
  • Conduct sensory sessions for semi-finished and finished products.
  • Support allergen management and product coding maintenance.
  • Monitor information from materials and environment to detect issues.
  • Train UGP personnel for on-line quality checks on products.
  • Record goods movements in SAP for quality controls and stock.
  • Implement and uphold all GMP and food safety standards.
  • Perform internal audits and HACCP documentation reviews.
  • Enforce company policies and good manufacturing practices.

Food Safety & Quality Specialist- 3rd Shift
About the Role:

We have a current opening for a Food Safety & Quality Specialsitand are actively reviewing applications.

The main function of this role is to ensure the integrity and highest level of quality for all Ferrero products produced in the Bloomington, IL plant. The Food Safety & Quality Specialist will be responsible for the inspection of work in process and finished products. You will be positioned on the plant production floor and follow production activities to ensure compliance of quality standards for all products, GMPs and Food Safety.

Schedule:
3rd Shift: 11p-7a
Monday- Friday with occasional weekend coverage on a rotational basis

Main Responsibilities:
  • Ensure the inspection of the finished product output; guarantee finished products meet quality specifications established by the Quality Department
  • Ensure the examination of the quality reports from the day prepared by production personnel (entry of data into system such as SAP-QM or Fenice); ensure the examination of monthly reports; request and verify adjustment as required
  • Conduct sensory sessions for semi-finished and finished product
  • Support factory food allergen management program and product coding maintenance
  • Monitor and review information from materials, events, or the environment to detect or assess problems
  • Train personnel from the UGPs responsible for quality check of the product (self-control)
  • Record goods movements in SAP (e.g. stock for quality controls / blocked stock, etc.)
  • Ensure all program requirements/standards regarding quality and food safety are implemented, practiced, and maintained
  • Internal auditing, recording statistical data and analyzing production data to verify compliance or determine deviation from existing standards
  • Execute daily review of the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) documentation
  • Enforce and promote all company guidelines, policies, and good manufacturing practices
About You:
  • Associates Degree required in Food Technology, Food Science, Biotechnology, or Food Chemistry; Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods
  • Ability to match or detect differences between colors, including shades of color and brightness; ability to see details at close range; ability to compare similarities and differences quickly and accurately, ability to identify or detect a pattern; ability to add, sub-tract, multiply or divide quickly and correctly
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to perform in a demanding, fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in SAP systems preferred
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and HAACP strongly preferred

The base compensation range for this position is $50,000.00 - $75,000.00. Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This range represents the anticipated salary for this position at this time.

In addition to base salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other benefits.
