Job summary

Johnsonville is seeking a Food Safety/Quality Leader who will help ensure our products meet safety, quality, and consumer experience standards. This role collaborates with a team to complete daily HACCP, SSOP, SOP documentation, verifications, and audits with USDA-FSIS personnel.

You will train staff, support lab work, and partner with operations on incident investigations and corrective actions while maintaining compliance and continuous improvement across the facility.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Microbiology or related field.
• 2 years in the food industry preferred.
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and SSOPs preferred.
• Experience under USDA regulatory system preferred.
• HACCP trained or certification desired.
• SQF Practitioner certification desired.
• Detail-oriented and self-motivated.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review daily HACCP and quality docs for accuracy and follow-up.
• Perform routine lab activities including fat testing and plating.
• Verify daily SSOP and SOP documentation.
• Support training on Food Safety and Quality programs.
• Conduct safety inspections and audits for standards.
• Partner with operations on incident reporting and corrective actions.
• Assist with implementing SOPs across the facility.
• Coordinate with sanitation to ensure compliance.
• Maintain lab supplies and daily testing resources.
• Communicate with USDA-FSIS inspectors.
• Provide backup support for coordinators.
