Job summary

Smartsearchonline in the South Bay Los Angeles Area is seeking a Food Safety Manager / SQF Practitioner for its Compton, CA facility. This onsite role offers a salary of approximately $75,000-$90,000 annually, DOE, with flexibility for the right candidate.

You will own HACCP plans, lead GMP practices, prepare for audits, drive corrective actions, and maintain audit-ready documentation while collaborating with production, maintenance, shipping and management.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of HACCP and how HACCP plans are developed and maintained.
• Experience with GMP in food packaging/manufacturing environments.
• Experience supporting internal and third-party audits and corrective actions.
• Experience training employees and leading a team on food safety topics.
• Excellent communication, organization, and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Own and maintain the site's HACCP plan and food safety programs, updating them as processes, materials, or equipment change.
• Conduct plant-floor reviews of GMP practices, including sanitation, pest control, and employee hygiene.
• Lead corrective actions with investigations, root-cause analysis, and verification.
• Maintain food safety procedures, forms, records, and document-control processes.
• Schedule and conduct internal audits and track corrective actions to closure.
• Prepare the facility for customer and third-party certification audits and act as primary audit contact.
• Train new and existing employees on GMP requirements and responsibilities.
• Conduct traceability exercises and mock recalls; manage recall procedures.
• Oversee product and raw-material testing and communicate results to management.
• Lead food safety team meetings and provide updates on issues and progress.
• Respond to customer food safety inquiries and documentation requests.
