Job summary

CookUnity is hiring a Food Safety Associate to uphold a sustainable, safe and clean environment in our commissary. You will monitor production, perform critical checks, and ensure all safety protocols are followed by chefs and staff.

You will work with Kitchen Ops, Supply Chain and Maintenance to resolve issues affecting safety and quality, and help prepare the facility for inspections. Prior USDA/FDA experience is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience in a high‑compliance food processing facility (USDA, FDA).
• Strong communication skills, able to speak professionally with a wide range of partners.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision and be a collaborative team member.

Responsibilities

• Monitor food production and ensure chefs follow food safety regulations.
• Perform checks on refrigeration, chemical concentrations and temperatures.
• Communicate kitchen rules (gloves, hairnets, hand washing, sanitation).
• Ensure cooler/freezer labeling with Chef Name, Product, Date.
• Conduct daily facility compliance walks and implement corrective actions.
• Collaborate with Kitchen Ops, Supply Chain and Maintenance to fix safety/quality issues.
• Ensure readiness for inspections by regulators or auditors.
• Keep walk‑in coolers and fridges at 41°F or below; monitor temps.
• Carry out weekly thermometer calibrations for staff.
• Provide training on food safety and sanitation to team members.
• Collect and share data on cooler function and sanitary transport to operations.
