Shamin Hotels in Virginia Beach is seeking a Food Runner to ensure timely and accurate delivery of meals from kitchen to tables. You will work with kitchen staff and servers to coordinate orders and uphold service standards.

Responsibilities include delivering orders, maintaining table setups, and communicating any special requests. This role emphasizes guest warmth, teamwork, and attention to quality and sanitation in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a similar role in a restaurant or food service (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Customer-focused attitude with a desire to provide exceptional service.
• Physical stamina and ability to stand, walk, and carry trays.
• Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Retrieve food orders from the kitchen and deliver them to the appropriate tables in a timely manner.
• Ensure that each dish is accurately presented and matches the customer's order.
• Coordinate with servers to ensure that all items for a table are delivered together.
• Assist in setting up and clearing tables before and after meal service.
• Ensure that tables are properly set with condiments, utensils, and other necessary items.
• Clear empty plates, glasses, and other used items from tables promptly to maintain a clean and organized dining environment.
• Communicate effectively with kitchen staff, servers, and other restaurant team members to ensure smooth coordination of food orders.
• Relay any special requests or modifications to food orders to the kitchen staff accurately.
• Inform servers or managers of any issues or concerns related to food quality, presentation, or customer satisfaction.
• Provide friendly and attentive service to customers, greeting them warmly and answering any questions about the menu or specials.
• Anticipate and respond promptly to customers' needs, ensuring a positive dining experience.
• Handle customer inquiries or requests courteously and professionally.
• Inspect food orders before delivery to ensure they meet quality and presentation standards.
• Verify the accuracy of each order against the ticket to prevent errors or discrepancies.
• Notify kitchen staff or management of any quality issues or discrepancies in food orders.
• Adhere to food safety and sanitation guidelines to prevent cross-contamination and ensure food safety.
• Handle food items and serving utensils with care to avoid spills or accidents.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the food running area and other work areas.
