Barcelona Wine Bar in Brookline, Massachusetts, is looking for a Food Runner responsible for assisting servers with food delivery and maintaining the flow of service. The ideal candidate will ensure that food is accurate and served promptly, while also attending to guest needs and clearing tables.

Candidates should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, and ideally possess 1-2 years of experience in food service. A fast-paced, high volume restaurant environment experience is a plus.

Description

The Food Runner assists servers in delivering food to the proper table at the right time, clearing dirty plates and silverware, responding to other guest needs, and any other tasks that contribute to the smooth flow of the shift.

Responsibilities

• Check food for accuracy, presentation and temperature prior to removing it from the window
• Communicate with all parts of the kitchen so food ticket is executed correctly
• Deliver food to tables promptly
• Answer questions about the food if ask guest asks
• Pre-bus soiled plates from guest tables
• Tidy work stations and expo area
• Understand restaurant layout in order for food to be delivered correctly

Working Conditions

• Stand for the entirety of scheduled shift
• Walk/move around the restaurant for the majority of scheduled shift
• Be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
• Be able to hold warm plates in order to deliver food to guests in a timely fashion

Skills

• Strong verbal skills
• Strong knowledge of menu items
• Ability to move quickly to ensure food is delivered promptly and that food in the window doesn’t sit for longer than expected

Education/Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred
• 1-2 years of experience in food service/hospitality field
• High volume restaurant experience is a plus
