Boys & Girls of Benton County is seeking a part-time USDA Program Assistant to support the administration of the food program in Bentonville, AR. Under the supervision of the Director of Federal Grants, you will receive, pack, and deliver meals, maintain inventory, and document meals in compliance with USDA meal patterns and safety regulations.

  • Physical requirements: lift up to 40 lbs. without assistance; move freely around the building, stoop, bend, and reach; stand for long periods as well as stooping, squatting, lifting.
  • Background clearance from the Arkansas State Police and Central Registries for Child and Adult Abuse and Maltreatment.
  • Any equivalent combination of training, education, or experience that meets the minimum requirements will be accepted.

Job Details
Location: Administration - Bentonville, AR 72712
Position Type: Part Time
Primary Function: Under limited supervision of the Director of Federal Grants, the USDA Program Assistant is responsible for receiving, packing, and delivering meals for the food program at the Boys & Girls of Benton County (BGCBC) as well as maintaining food inventory and documenting meals that comply with the USDA Food Program meal patterns and food safety regulations. This role plays a vital part in supporting the health and nutrition of children enrolled at BGCBC.

Responsibilities
Program Operations
  • Maintain food inventory.
  • Maintain accurate daily meal production records.
  • Receive, pack, and deliver meals to Clubs, ready for individual meal service.
  • Keep updated menus.
  • Assist the Federal Director of Federal Grants in preparation and serving of USDA reimbursable meals.
  • Be responsible for food receiving and storage assigned by the Director of Federal Grants.
  • Gather supplies from the storeroom, freezer, or refrigerator and deliver to designated work area.
  • Label and date food items, prior to proper storage.
  • Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules as directed.
  • Ensure every work area is well‑stocked to allow for expedient and efficient operation.
  • Gather inventory on food, condiments, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements.
  • Complete required logs and records for Director of Federal Grants to complete daily production reports.
Health and Safety
  • Have knowledge of any special diet needs in each Club.
  • Be responsible for maintaining cleanliness in both the kitchen and storage areas.
  • Maintain established standards of sanitation, safety and food preparation and storage as set by the local and state health departments.
  • Cleans utensils, equipment, storage, food preparation and serving areas for the purpose of maintaining required sanitary conditions.
  • Perform janitorial duties such as cleaning workstations, emptying the trash, mopping up spills during your shift, when needed.
  • Check equipment to make sure it maintains safety and sanitation requirements and report needed repairs to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Wear proper clothing, shoes and hair restraints according to Health Department Standards.
  • Maintain appropriate personal health and hygiene and continuously practice sanitary food handling procedures.
  • Monitor and chart refrigerator temperature.
  • Participate in all emergency drills and environmental safety activities.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Will be required to drive Club vehicle(s).
  • Attends grantee-sponsored training, in‑service training, workshops, etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
