Insight Global is seeking a Food Product Lab Technician in Plano, TX to support Product Development teams by enabling efficient, high-quality lab work. You will manage daily readiness of the lab and kitchen, providing hands-on support for prototype prep, testing, sensory evaluation, and restaurant validation.

The role requires 1+ year in a food product development setting, a Food Science background, and knowledge of safety, sanitation, and allergen control. ServSafe certification is preferred.

Qualifications

• ServSafe certification required.

Responsabilités

• Prepare and execute product prototypes, formulations, and development samples with Product Developer teams.
• Prepare sensory evaluations, product cuttings, competitive assessments, and side-by-side testing.
• Assist in product preparation and testing for CLTs, focus groups, and restaurant testing.
• Document product measurements, sensory observations, testing conditions, photos, and results.

Job Description

An employer is looking for a Food Product Lab Technician in the Plano, TX area. You will primarily be tasked with supporting Product Development teams by enabling efficient, consistent, and high-quality product development work. This role is responsible for the day-to-day readiness and operation of the product development lab and kitchen, while providing hands-on technical support for product preparation, prototyping, testing, sensory evaluation, and restaurant validation.

Job Functions/Responsibilities

• Support Product Development & Prototyping: Prepare and execute product prototypes, formulations, and iterative development samples in partnership with Product Developer teams.


• Support Sensory & Product Evaluations: Prepare, organize, and execute sensory evaluations, product cuttings, competitive assessments, and side-by-side product testing with consistency and accuracy.


• Support Consumer & Restaurant Testing: Assist in product preparation and execution for CLTs, focus groups, restaurant testing, and other consumer learning activities.


• Capture Product & Sensory Data: Collect and document product measurements, sensory observations, testing conditions, photographs, and results to support development decisions and product refinement.

Skills and Requirements

• 1+ years of experience in a food product development lab, test kitchen, commercial kitchen, restaurant operation, food manufacturing environment


• Food science or culinary experience/ background


• Working knowledge of food preparation, ingredient handling, kitchen equipment, and basic food science principles


• Understanding of food safety, sanitation, allergen management, temperature control, and proper food storage practices


• Ability to accurately follow formulations, recipes, product specifications, and standardized testing procedures


• Ability to accurately weigh and measure ingredients using scales and other laboratory or kitchen equipment


• ServSafe certification


• Basic understanding of product development, sensory testing, quality evaluation, or food


• Degree/ Certifications in Food Science
