Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania is seeking a Food Procurement Coordinator to source and purchase food through donations, vendor partnerships, and strategic purchasing across an 11-county service area. You will forecast needs, manage inventory, and build relationships with donors and partners to maximize impact.

You’ll analyze procurement trends, coordinate gleaning and distribution, ensure compliance, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to reduce waste and strengthen

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Agriculture, Food Studies, Business, or a related field preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience in procurement, purchasing, vendor relations, agriculture, food sourcing, inventory management, or related fields preferred.
Experience in the food industry, nonprofit sector, agriculture, or outside sales is a plus.
Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License with a good driving record.
ServSafe Food Safety Certification (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).
Act 33 and Act 34 Clearances.

At Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania, we believe access to nutritious food is a basic human right. The Food Procurement Coordinator plays a critical role in ensuring our network of partner agencies and programs has access to a reliable, diverse, and nutritious food supply.

This position is responsible for sourcing, procuring, and purchasing food products through donations, vendor partnerships, and strategic purchasing. From building relationships with growers and food industry partners to coordinating gleaning activities and analyzing procurement trends, the Food Procurement Coordinator helps maximize food resources and strengthen our ability to serve neighbors facing hunger across our 11-county service area.

What You'll Do

Food Procurement & Inventory Planning

Ensure a consistent supply of quality food products to support Food Bank programs and partner agencies.
Forecast product needs in collaboration with Operations and Inventory teams.
Purchase and source food products while maximizing available funding and resources.
Monitor food supply trends, product availability, and demand projections to support strategic purchasing decisions.
Utilize Just-in-Time inventory practices to reduce waste and maintain product quality.
Support efficient integration of receiving, storage, repack, and distribution operations.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with food donors, growers, retailers, manufacturers, and vendors.
Research and recruit new food sourcing opportunities throughout the food industry.
Conduct regular donor visits and stewardship activities to strengthen long-term partnerships.
Track donor engagement and maintain accurate sourcing and relationship records.
Implement donor recognition strategies to support retention and growth.

Gleaning & Agricultural Programs

Coordinate gleaning opportunities with local growers and agricultural partners.
Organize and support gleaning events to recover fresh produce for community distribution.
Recruit, coordinate, and support volunteers participating in gleaning activities.
Ensure proper handling, transportation, and distribution of gleaned products.

Coordination, Compliance & Reporting

Collaborate with internal departments, vendors, and partner agencies to coordinate food deliveries and sourcing logistics.
Process purchasing and receiving documentation and coordinate vendor payments with Accounting.
Monitor procurement budgets and ensure purchasing activities align with funding requirements.
Maintain awareness of food safety regulations and industry best practices.
Collect, analyze, and report procurement, donor, and sourcing data to support organizational planning and performance.
Provide backup support for Food Rescue and TEFAP coordination activities as needed.

Community Engagement

Represent Second Harvest Food Bank at conferences, community events, and industry meetings.
Promote food sourcing initiatives and build relationships that expand food access across Northwest Pennsylvania.
Support organizational goals that increase food availability and reduce food insecurity.

What You'll Bring

Education & Experience
