Shorr Packaging Corp. in Fort Worth, TX is seeking an experienced Food Packaging Product Manager who combines deep technical knowledge of flexible and rigid packaging with strong commercial instincts.

You will work directly with customers, sales teams, suppliers, and internal groups to identify opportunities and support trials and conversions. You will translate technical insights into practical packaging recommendations that improve performance, quality, cost, and supply-chain resilience.

Shorr is looking for an experienced Food Packaging Product Manager who brings deep technical knowledge of primary food packaging together with strong commercial instincts. This is an opportunity for someone who understands the science behind flexible and rigid packaging and knows how to translate that expertise into solutions that help customers solve problems, improve performance, and achieve their business goals.

This is not a traditional behind-the-scenes product management role. You will work directly with customers, sales professionals, suppliers, and internal teams to identify opportunities, develop packaging solutions, support trials and conversions, and ultimately grow Shorr's food packaging business.

The right person is technically credible, commercially minded, highly consultative, and energized by being in front of customers.

What You'll Do

Drive Food Packaging Growth

• Identify, develop, and help convert new opportunities for primary food packaging, including flexible and rigid packaging solutions.
• Partner with Shorr's sales team to uncover opportunities within existing accounts and develop new target customers.
• Drive growth in sales, margin dollars, and margin percentage while helping protect and expand strategic customer relationships.
• Build and maintain a strong pipeline of food packaging projects and opportunities.

Serve as the Technical Packaging Expert

• Bring deep expertise in flexible and rigid packaging, including substrates, films, structures, applications, graphics, performance characteristics, and emerging technologies.
• Assess customer requirements and recommend packaging solutions based on performance, quality, cost, operational requirements, and supply-chain considerations.
• Provide technical support throughout the selling process, from discovery and solution development through customer presentations, trials, commercialization, and implementation.
• Coordinate customer flexible-film and rigid-packaging trials and troubleshoot technical challenges in the field.

Partner with Customers to Solve Problems

• Engage directly with customers to understand their packaging challenges, operating environment, performance requirements, and business objectives.
• Ask insightful questions that uncover needs customers may not yet have fully defined.
• Develop and present compelling packaging recommendations that clearly demonstrate value in areas such as performance, quality, cost, productivity, sustainability, and supply assurance.
• Help navigate technical specifications, commercial terms, and implementation requirements to move opportunities forward.

Enable the Sales Organization

• Serve as a trusted technical and commercial partner to Shorr sales professionals.
• Coach and educate sales teams on food packaging products, applications, technologies, market trends, and effective selling strategies.
• Support the development of customer proposals, presentations, specifications, samples, and packaging recommendations.
• Develop practical field training that increases the sales team's confidence and ability to identify and pursue food packaging opportunities.

Build a Strong Supplier Network

• Develop and maintain relationships with key flexible and rigid packaging manufacturers and preferred supplier partners.
• Identify new technologies, materials, capabilities, and regional suppliers that expand Shorr's value proposition.
• Keep sales teams informed of market conditions, innovations, material trends, supplier capabilities, and emerging packaging solutions.

Own the Business

• Track active opportunities, trials, conversions, pipeline activity, forecasts, and results.
• Provide regular visibility into progress, customer needs, market conditions, and barriers to growth.
• Collaborate across sales, sourcing, marketing, design, quality, operations, suppliers, and leadership to move complex opportunities from concept to commercialization.

What You'll Bring

• Significant experience in primary food packaging, with strong technical knowledge of both flexible and/or rigid packaging.
• Deep understanding of packaging substrates, materials, structures, applications, functionality, graphics, and manufacturing processes.
• Demonstrated ability to translate technical packaging knowledge into commercial opportunities and customer solutions.
• Experience working directly with customers on packaging specifications, trials, conversions, troubleshooting, or new-product applications.
• Strong consultative-selling skills with the ability to influence technical, operational, procurement, and executive stakeholders.
• Confidence presenting complex technical information in a practical, business-focused way.
• Proven ability to build productive relationships with packaging manufacturers and suppliers.
• Strong project-management skills and the ability to manage multiple customer opportunities simultaneously.
• Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
• A self-directed, entrepreneurial approach with a track record of taking ownership and driving results.

Compensation

The base pay range for this role is $130,000 – $160,000 per year.
