Job summary

AGT LABS is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join the Food Microbiology Department in Houston, TX. You will assist in routine lab workflows, prepare media, and maintain accurate records in the LIMS system.

The role requires attention to detail, the ability to multitask, and adherence to aseptic techniques. Responsibilities include media preparation, autoclaving, quality control, sample handling, and systematic data logging.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 2 years of college preferred.
• 1–2 years laboratory experience is advantageous.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic data entry.

Responsibilities

• Prepare media by weighing, diluting, and composing as needed.
• Autoclave media per SOP and document in LIMS, create Lot numbers.
• Perform QC on prepared media.
• Store and distribute media to the lab and manage inventory.
• Operate balances, pH meters, and pipetting devices aseptically.
• Pour plates aseptically and label/store as required.
• Receive and scan samples in the lab and enter data in LIMS.
• Maintain temperature logs and clean equipment per SOP.
• Follow biosafety policies and participate in HACCP training.
