Job summary

Conagra Brands seeks a Principal Food Labeling Specialist to ensure United States labeling compliance across a diverse product portfolio. You will guide cross-functional teams, review artwork, and maintain label content from development through launch.

The role requires deep knowledge of FDA and USDA regulations, 3+ years in labeling, and a proven ability to manage multiple labeling projects with accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Regulatory Affairs, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 3+ years of food industry experience in food labeling, regulatory affairs, or a related discipline.
  • Strong knowledge of FDA and/or USDA labeling regulations.
  • Experience reviewing food packaging, artwork, and product claims for regulatory compliance.
  • Understanding of food product development, manufacturing processes, food safety, allergens, and ingredient regulations.
  • Experience working effectively with cross-functional teams to drive compliant business outcomes.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience supporting a variety of food categories and product formats.
  • Demonstrated success working independently and exercising sound regulatory judgment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide United States food labeling guidance to teams across Regulatory Affairs, Nutrition, Legal, Government Affairs, Marketing, and Product Development.
  • Review and approve product artwork, packaging, and labeling materials to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and maintain mandatory label content including ingredient statements, allergen declarations, nutrition panels, claims, net weight, and product naming.
  • Evaluate labeling claims and marketing language, providing compliant solutions that support brand objectives.
  • Research, interpret, and communicate current and emerging labeling regulations and industry trends.
  • Support new product launches, renovations, and packaging changes with timely labeling guidance.
  • Obtain USDA/FSIS labeling approvals, temporary approvals, and extensions as needed.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve labeling processes, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Respond to labeling and regulatory inquiries while identifying compliant solutions.
  • Manage multiple projects independently balancing priorities and deadlines.

Job description

Reporting to the Principal Food Labeling Specialist, you will serve as a subject matter expert for United States food labeling requirements. You will partner with cross-functional teams to ensure product labels and packaging comply with regulatory requirements while supporting business objectives and speed to market. You will independently manage labeling reviews, provide regulatory guidance, and support product commercialization activities across a diverse portfolio while helping deliver accurate, compliant labels to market.

  • StrongknowledgeofFoodandDrugAdministrationand/orUnitedStatesDepartmentofAgricultureFoodSafetyandInspectionServicelabelingregulations.

  • Experiencereviewingfoodpackaging,artwork,andproductclaimsforregulatorycompliance.

  • Understandingoffoodproductdevelopment,manufacturingprocesses,foodsafety,allergens,andingredientregulations.

  • Experienceworkingeffectivelywithcross-functionalteamstodrivecompliantbusinessoutcomes.

Physical Requirements

This role is a hybrid office-based position and does not require regular visits to manufacturing facilities.

Compensation

Pay Range:$64,000-$95,000

The annual salary listed above is the expected offering for this position. An employee’s actual annual salary will be based on but not limited to: location, relevant experience/level and skillset, while balancing internal Conagra employees’ equity. Conagra Brands will comply with applicable law regarding minimum salaries for exempt employees.
