Job summary

Mattel, Inc.’s American Girl Retail team in Chicago is seeking a Food Expeditor. You will engage guests professionally, support the mission of Celebrating Girls, and help maintain a fast-paced, kid-friendly dining environment.

You will manage seating, deliver food, upsell where appropriate, and ensure safety and sanitation standards are met. The role requires a flexible schedule including nights and weekends, with opportunities to contribute to store events and celebrations.

Qualifications

• SERV Safe certification preferred.
• 1–2 years of experience preferred.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• Impeccable customer service skills.
• Able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Deliver food and beverages with proper etiquette and reset tables.

• Handle special requests and birthday information; assist with parties and events.
• Follow food safety guidelines and proper labeling, FIFO, and correct temperatures.

Our experiential retail stores provide shopping destinations like no other. This requires Innovation, Collaboration, and Execution from all who are a part of this division. Our in-store experiences range depending on location from Girl and Doll Salons, Full-Service Restaurants, Personal Shopping, Ear Piercing (Girl and Doll), hosting Parties/Celebrations to name a few. Job Description

The Opportunity: The Food Expeditor is located at the AG Retail Flagship Chicago location and reports directly to the Assistant Café Manager. This position is responsible for approaching and engaging all customers in a professional and courteous manner and actively supporting our mission of "Celebrating Girls".

What Your Impact Will Be:

• Treat all guests equally and respectfully. Service all guests with proper etiquette and according to AG standards, including but not limited to: delivering food and beverages, suggestively upselling, tables are checked and maintained throughout the seating by filling drinks, clearing, and resetting tables.
• Initiate conversations with customers and provide them with personalized attention. Display positive, friendly demeanor and passion for working in a child friendly environment.
• Use sound judgment with challenging service situations, react quickly and professionally, and involve a supervisor when needed.
• Manage special requests and birthday information accurately and timely. Assisting with parties and storewide special events, stocking supplies, and other projects as requested by a supervisor.
• Follow food safety guidelines, including but not limited to: proper food labeling and storage, FIFO, foods stored at proper temperature, and avoiding cross-contamination.
• Have knowledge and understanding of local and state health sanitation laws.
• Company guidelines on safety and sanitation are followed for personal hygiene.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

• SERV Safe certification, preferred.
• 1 to 2 years of experience, preferred.
• Experience working with children, preferred.
• Impeccable customer service skills.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Demonstrated agrowth mindset by staying curious and continuously learning, embracing challenges, and improving themselves.

The pay range for this position is between $17.05 and $19.53 per hour. The pay range is indicative of projected hiring range, however base pay will be determined based on a candidate’s work location, skills and experience.
