Job summary

The Wisconsin Union, Fluno Center on the UW–Madison campus is seeking a Food and Beverage Assistant Manager to oversee catering and dining operations, manage event setups, support break stations, and supervise venues like Smitty’s Pub and Oros Dining Room. Responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling, and student employee training.

Strong leadership and communication are essential. Previous full‑service restaurant or catering leadership experience is required; bartending experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1 year of supervisory experience in a food operation (restaurant or catering).
• Bartending experience preferred.
• ServSafe certification required or obtainable within 6–12 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Assist with unit budget monitoring, inventory management, and staff training.
• Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and policies; identify improvements for leadership.
• Oversee workflow and day‑to‑day activities of food service staff; schedule logistics and menus for daily and catering operations.
• Lead customer service and provide information regarding food preparation and catering activities.
